your practicumA core component of your MPH degree program is the practicum, a four-month, full-time and hands-on experience in a public health work setting. It provides the opportunity to bridge theory and practice, while contributing to a host or organiza-tion’s capacity to execute or evaluate population and public health strategies. Regardless of your specialization, our practicum program director will help you find an organization where you can develop your skills to the fullest.

According to the results of our 2013 Graduate Employment Survey*, 86 per cent of our MPH graduates have found either full- or part-time employment, while 9 per cent have chosen to further their education.

admission requirements To be admitted to the master of public health program, you must:

• hold a baccalaureate degree, or its academic equivalent, from an academic institution recog-nized by the University of Alberta.

• have at least one year of health-related or community-related experience.

• have a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale over the last 60 credits.

application deadlineYour application must be submitted by January 31 for admission in September of the same year.

Students are admitted to the MPH program for a Fall term (September) start only.
