SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT MASTER OF SCIENCE IN The Master of Science in Supply Chain Management, (M.Sc.(SCM)), programme is an inter-faculty degree programme jointly offered by The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific (TLI – Asia Pacific), Department of Industrial Systems Engineering & Management (ISEM), Faculty of Engineering, and Department of Analytics & Operations (DAO), NUS Business School. It is endorsed by Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB), Workforce Development Agency (WDA), and SPRING Singapore, Singapore’s national productivity and standards promotion agency. The M.Sc. (SCM) programme covers topics in logistics and supply chain management, business analytics, operations management, and systems engineering with the aim to develop graduates with a comprehensive skill set for planning, designing and operating modern global supply chains. Since its inception in 2011, the programme has attracted a good mix of both local and international students. Upon successful completion of the programme, M.Sc. (SCM) graduates will be well equipped with knowledge of global logistics, supply chain analytics and industrial and systems engineering to take on a challenging career in the logistics and supply chain industry. Special emphasis is placed on applying decision and analytical methodologies to solve real-world problems, and hence the industry project module (LI5001) will develop graduates to work effectively in the logistics and supply chain industry. This is complemented with industrial site visits to logistics and supply chain facilities of local and multinational companies with operations in Singapore. The M.Sc. (SCM) is ideal for mid–career professionals who are keen to advance themselves in a career in the logistics and supply chain industry. Successful candidates for the M.Sc. (SCM) programme are graduates with a good honours degree equivalent to an Honours (with Merit) degree from National University of Singapore in engineering, mathematics, computing, science, business administration, or other relevant technical disciplines. Those with at least 2 years of working experience in the logistics/supply chain management industry will be considered favorably under discretionary admission. The M.Sc. (SCM) programme is open to both full–time and part-time students. Graduation requirements include satisfactory completion of three core and five elective coursework modules and an industry–based Research Project. Maximum candidatures for full-time and part-time students are two and four years (4 and 8 semesters) respectively. However, full-time candidates typically take two to three semesters to graduate while part-time candidates typically take four to five semesters to graduate. Career Prospects in the Logistics /Supply Chain IndustrySingapore has been ranked by the World Bank as the top Logistics Hub in Asia in the Logistics Performance Index. Singapore’s strategic location in the heart of Southeast Asia and at the nexus of major shipping lanes has made it an important logistics hub and conduit for world trade.

Today, Singapore is a prime location for major logistics firms, with 20 of the top 25 global logistics players conducting operations here. Most have set up regional or global headquarter functions in Singapore.

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the global economy is expected to accelerate gradually if countries implement growth-supportive policies. Growth will be strongest in Asia, one of the most buoyant regions in the world.

Forecasts indicate that by 2030, Asia’s economy will be larger than that of the United States and the European Union combined, with the region’s share of world GDP increasing from about 30% to more than 40%. The increased importance of

intra-regional trade in combination with high GDP growth rates will likely transform the region into the most important in the world.

As a key node in Asia and home to over 3,000 logistics and supply chain companies, Singapore will reap the benefits of the industry’s expansion. Companies are scaling up their operations in Singapore leveraging on its strengths to offer solutions to address their customers’ logistics and supply chain needs. As the industry expands, it will conjure fresh opportunities for professionals with the knowledge and skills to respond to industry’s demands.

Tailor-Made Advancement Course for Mid-Career ProfessionalsThe Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (M.Sc. (SCM)) programme is ideal for mid-career professionals who are keen to advance their career in logistics, supply chain analytics and management, and related areas. The integrated programme combines business and engineering and will provide students with a comprehensive skill-set for planning, designing and operating modern supply chains in Asia.

On completion of the course, graduates will be well-equipped with knowledge of supply chain analytics, global logistics, information-communication technology and industrial and systems engineering to take on meaningful and enriching careers in the logistics and supply chain industry.

International Experiential Learning OpportunitiesIn cooperation with overseas partner universities, TLI – Asia Pacific offers international experiential learning opportunities to M.Sc. (SCM) students and alumni via Summer School programmes at partner universities. In conjunction with the Summer School Programme at LOGISTIKUM, Steyr, Austria, students may enroll for an elective module, LI5203 Global Logistics & Supply Chain Management, to satisfy the M.Sc. (SCM) degree requirements.
