• Educational background, working experience, and own interest affect career paths upon graduation

• Examples of positions: educator, researcher, educational consultant, human resources developer, project leader, coordinator, expert in virtual learning, designer of technology-enhanced learning…
• Note that this degree does not constitute a formal teaching qualification in Finland!

Application process

Two stagesStage I: applications (max. 18 points)
‒ The applications will be evaluated on the basis of
the following criteria:
- The level and the relevance of the applicant's overall study
record in the completed Bachelor's degree (0-6 points)
- The quality of the applicant's Motivation letter (0-6 points)
- The quality of the applicant's Research Intent (0-6 points)
Stage II: Interview (max. 8 points)
‒ The final selection is carried on the basis of the
interview in English.
‒ The purpose of the individual interview in English
is to establish the applicant's aptitude for
educational work, ability to discuss the content
areas of the programme, motivation and the
relevance of their research topic. The applicant’s
social and language skills will be ascertained
during the interview.

Eligibilitya) Bachelor's degree or equivalent higher
education degree; preference will be
given to the applicants with a
background in education or in
humanities.
- Applicants with a background in other academic fields (e.g.
information processing sciences, information studies, psychology,
economics etc.) are eligible to apply as well.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's degree from a Finnish University of
Applied Sciences (former Polytechnic) are eligible to apply as
well.
b) Sufficient English language proficiency:
All teaching will be in English and therefore
English language proficiency is required of

Tuition Fees ‒ The fees will concern degree students who
start their studies in English-taught
Bachelor's and Master's degree
programmes on or later than 1st August
2017
‒ Students who are not citizens of an
EU/EEA member state are liable to pay the
tuition fee.
‒ The tuition fee is an academic fee and thus
covers the costs of tuition.
- The tuition fee does not cover the living costs such as
accommodation, meals, and transportation!

Scholarship ‒ No separate application
- scholarship application included in the application form as
an own section “Application for Scholarship”
‒ Scholarship covers full tuition (not
include living costs), granted as a tuition
fee waiver
‒ Selection criteria: previous academic
performance and academic potential
‒ Admissions and scholarship decision will
be taken at the same time
‒ In order to retain the scholarship in the
following year of study, student must
have been completed 55ECTS by the end
of previous academic year
