This session focuses on how schools can harness formative assessment within blended learning

to prepare students for success in curriculum-specific assessments. Drawing on case studies

Option 3:

From ‘busy work’ to impact: how to align your back office operating model to maximise

benefits for learning

Speakers: Chris Kirk, Director

Moderators: Louise Reader, CJK Associates Senior Consultant

Drawing on CJK Associates’ work with dozens of MATs, data from the Trust Research Panel,

and Chris’s discussions with MAT leaders as part of his NPQEL teaching, this session will be

practical, lively and strategic. It will discuss the common challenges, pitfalls and solutions when

MATs seek to improve the quality and efficiency of back office services. This will include GAG

Pooling, selecting the right mix of software, reorganising operational teams and managing

change.

Option 4:

A Flexible Workforce - The Key to Catch-Up

Speakers: Scott Kelly, Director of Tuition, Teaching Personnel and Liberty King,

Programme Liaison Manager, National Tutoring Programme

Moderators: Alison Lincoln, Trust Partnership Manager, Teaching Personnel

Join Scott Kelly, Liberty King & Alison Lincoln for a 45 minute session on establishing a flexible

workforce, the National Tutoring Programme and effective tuition and intervention delivery

models. Teaching Personnel has delivered over 1 million hours of F2F and online learning in

the past couple of years. Teaching Personnel and the National Tutoring Programme will be

sharing their experiences of setting up and delivering high quality learning and interventions.

In October 2020 Teaching Personnel were awarded Tuition Partner status with the National

Tutoring Programme and are delivering tuition to 21,300 pupils through the initiative.

Masterclass Four

Option 1:

School Governance after the Pandemic: strategic future challenges and opportunities

Speakers: Roger Inman, Solicitor and Head of Education

Moderators: TBC

This masterclass, chaired by Roger Inman, Head of Education at Stone King solicitors and also

a long standing MAT trustee, will discuss the future shape of governance of trusts and schools

after the pandemic. It will take stock on what we have learnt about governance during the

Covid-19 pandemic, and look at the challenges and opportunities which will enhance

governance in the future, including the governance of crisis management, enhanced alignment

of strategy with risk management and assurance, and the likely future evolution of multi

academy trust governance structures as MATs expand.

Option 2:

Transforming Energy Management - Trusts taking the lead.

Speakers: Rob Gould, Partner and Tom Deacon, Partner

Moderators: Jonathan Coyles – Director, eo Consulting

Everybody wants to see action on climate change and improvements to the life chances of

young people. The education sector is in a unique position to benefit from the energy savings
