FotoGrafia, Rome’s international festival of photography is backwith an impressive showcase of big names and current trends.

The theme chosen for this 10th edition is “Motherland” whichexplores the relationship between the artist and his land of belon-ging. The festival, directed by Marco Delogu, boasts an internatio-nal jury that has chosen 15 projects including 5 finalist photogra-phers and the winner of the 2011 edition. As always, works areshown in diverse city venues including foreign academies, the audi-torium, Rome museums and galleries, but the heart of the eventbeats at Macro Testaccio which also hosts screenings of the 15 selec-ted photographers. Organisers say the choice of the theme,“Motherland”, is the result of an increasingly pressing need in aglobalized society to seek one’s land of belonging, whether it beold or new, real or virtual. A special section is dedicated to the workof photographer Alec Soth who has been asked to reveal his ownvision of the eternal city. A novelty this year is represented by a spe-cial prize for young Latin American photographers. From 23rd Sep-tember to 23rd October. MACRO Testaccio Museum, Piazza O. Giu-stiniani 4.
