Greetings Matador Team!

Seguin High School is once again expected to received a rating of Met Standard, which means we met the standard for student performance, student progress, closing the performance gap and post-secondary readiness. I am extremely proud of the entire team who worked very hard last year in order to make this possible. Although we have once again met the state standards, this coming year we have to change our approach from a “fixed mindset” about our students to a “growth mindset” where we believe that our students’ most basic abilities can be developed through hard work and dedication and not from fixed traits, such as intelligence and talent. In retrospect, a “growth mindset” approach will allow more of our students the opportunity to experience a love of learning and resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.

This week, we are excited to welcome all teachers and staff back on campus as we begin the 2016-2017 school year. Have a great week and as always It's a Great Day to be a Matador!

This past week signaled the beginning of fall practices for Football, Volleyball, Tennis and Band. Hundreds on students, coaches, and sponsors are already back at work before the first day of school. We would like to take this time to wish all of our students, coaches and sponsors best of luck as they embark on a new season. Go Mats!

Seguin High School held its student registration this past Tuesday and Wednesday at MBLC. Our most current estimates indicate that over 2,000 students will enroll at Seguin High School this fall. This includes approximately 65 new students to the district. We are excited about the growth of our school and welcome our new students to Seguin High School this upcoming year. A special thanks goes out to Ms. Bittings and the entire registration staff for a fantastic job during registration.

SHS NJROTC Senior Staff Attends Leadership SchoolSeguin High School's NJROTC senior staff recently attended the annual Leadership Retreat in Corpus Christi. The students participated in leadership training and team building exercises designed to better equip the cadets with the ability to lead and direct the battalion within the capacity of their assigned positions. The students are all highly motivated and well prepared to conquer the year ahead. It’s a great day to be an NJROTC MATADOR!
