Basic Seminar Applied Rheology

Content Detailed theoretical and practical knowledge is conveyed in the basic seminar “applied rheology” enabling you to conduct qualified measurements and to interpret the measuring data. There are three, one-day modules which can be booked as a complete package or individually: • Module 1: Basics of rheology and rotational testing • Module 2: Thermo Scientific™ HAAKE™ RheoWin software • Module 3: Viscoelasticity, creep and oscillatory testing Attendees will receive comprehensive seminar materials. The relevance of rheology for R&D, production and QC will be discussed and demonstrated with application examples. The practical trainings give you the opportunity to get hands-on experience working in small groups with different rheometers. Who should attend This application-oriented basic seminar will benefit beginners and intermediate users of rheological test methods in R&D, production or QC. This seminar not only refreshes basic knowledge of rheology but also gives you a comprehensive overview of rheological applications, measuring instruments and measuring geometries. Content This seminar puts emphasis on basic rheological principles, rheological measuring instruments, applications and data analysis. In the practical training, the acquired knowledge can be applied to selected samples with various rheometers. • Introduction to rheology and rotational testing

Basic principles, definitions and descriptions • Rheological measuring instruments

Overview of manifold measuring principles, (standards-compliant) measuring geometries and application-oriented measuring cells

• Rheological behavior Flow behavior, yield stress and thixotropy, measuring methods and interpretation

• Calibration and check of rheological measuring instruments Calibration standards, temperature offsets, inspection of viscosity measurements

and documentation • RheoWin Data Manager: Data evaluation and graphical presentation of measuring results as well as creation and

use of templates for graphs and tables • Design and export of graphics and data: Graphic and table formats, export of results to RheoWin-independent
