Materials and methods 1. In this study we have used the computer lab in the School of Chemical Sciences, which the Brain Works software was installed in each computer, downloaded free from Internet. This short self- assessment test from Synergistic Learning Incorporated may determine whether you are a left or right brain thinker. 2. Each student used a computer and with the help of the teacher ran the installed program. 3. After completing the questions, the students printed the results, delivering them to the mentor for further analysis. Acknowledgments We thank Mrs. Carolina Casanova for her support. Our sincere thanks to Colin Purrington for his design. And to our School Principal Enrique Seáñez, our gratitude for his support which made possible our participation in this conference. Results The author of this article participates in the Institutional Mentoring Program of the School and has conducted this experiment supporting its mentoring students to know their learning style, as assessed by Brain Works software. In the Faculty of Chemical Sciences, three educational programs are being offered: Chemical Parasitologist Bacteriologist, Chemical Engineering, and Chemist. Of the thirteen mentoring students who ran the software, eight are from the Chemical Engineering program and five from the Chemical program. The program issued personal assessment schemes for each mentoring student and an explanatory text regarding their learning style. Table 1 shows the results represented in percentages of the personal evaluation of mentoring students. It exists within the Internet a free questionnaire called Brain Works of Synergistic Learning Incorporated, which is a short self-assessment test in which there are 20 questions. There are not right or wrong answers; it is that everyone is unique in the way of addressing the problems and life. What can also determine if using the left or right cerebral hemisphere, as well as throwing the learning styles of the performer, either, if auditory or visual. The result of thirteen mentored students, who carried out this review, noted that most of their learning style is visual, and thinkers who are mostly with the left hemisphere, however, to present the individual results for each of them. Keywords: mentor, learning style, visual, auditory, left or right hemisphere. Conclusions Results on the model of the brain hemispheres are given by the program by issuing an explanatory text on how the person uses the logical or holistic side of the brain. In addition, this personal evaluation will be presented to future teachers to suggest planning of teaching strategies in order to improve the performance of these students. As a result of their personal evaluation, it was noted that 77.0% of the students who ran the program use the left hemisphere above 50.0%. It is concluded that they have a greater ability to use numerical data, verbal information, symbols and abstract images. It may be assumed that these students are oriented towards Chemistry careers. As a general conclusion, there is no definitive way to teach a class, because each person learns differently. The student can handle the information as visual, auditory and/or kinesthetic. Therefore, various teaching strategies could be combined to get the student’s best learning outcome. In recent years, a great effort has been focused in giving attention to the training of their students through mentoring programs. As a result of a continuous improvement process, there have been significant changes in the educational field that have been experienced by the contemporary school in recent times, with the idea of considering the student as part of an active teaching- learning process. Many of the problems are centered in the way students are encouraged to learn and how to keep their attention focused, while the teacher uses teaching methods or strategies that make the class more attractive. Regarding learning problems and specifically how each individual learns, the educational psychologists agree that people have different styles of learning. There is a wide range of theories on what, exactly, a "learning style" is. There are computer based instruments that are used to find the learning style of the student. RESEARCH OF LEARNING STYLES OF MENTORED STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF CHEMICAL SCIENCES

IntroductionIn Mexico, policies have been established to involve the university teacher in important functions such as teaching, counseling, and mentoring, among others.

In recent years, a great effort has been focused in giving attention to the training of their students through mentoring programs. As a result of a continuous improvement process, there have been significant changes in the educational field that have been experienced by the contemporary school in recent times, with the idea of considering the student as part of an active teaching-learning process. Many of the problems are centered in the way students are encouraged to learn and how to keep their attention focused, while the teacher uses teaching methods or strategies that make the class more attractive.  Regarding learning problems and specifically how each individual learns, the educational psychologists agree that people have different styles of learning.
