The proposed challenge was to remodel a 24m² room into a living + dining
room observing the following:
-Understand the existence and integrate the project requirements into the
new solution.
-Organize the functions and dimension of the space (user and furniture).
-Relate the concepts of scale and proportion in the production of form and
space.
-Use drawing and orthogonal projection as means of graphic
communication.
The existence was a compartment of my house and the client was one of
my colleagues. The requirements were the inclusion of a Christmas tree, a
“Coconut” lounge chair (1955, George Nelson, red), “The Prince” frog
sculpture by Joana Vasconcelos and a striped wallpaper in an extension of
3 to 12m².
The available budget was 6000€ excluding transportation, logistics and
labor.
Conversing with my client I concluded her style was a combination of retro
and eco-natural. She disliked the existing furniture; stated a fondeness for
illustrations and her preference for clean, geometric lines, different light
spots, pastel and neutral colors.

experiment.
