Matthew 4:18-22; 9:9; Mark 1-3; Luke 5-6

When Jesus began to tell people about God he knew he had a great deal of work to do.

He decided to find some people to help him.

While Jesus was walking along by the seashore he saw some

fishermen in their boats.

Jesus called to the men. He told them he wanted to make them ‘fishers of men’.

The fishermen started to bring

their boats ashore . They wanted to speak to Jesus.

The men were called Peter, Andrew, James and John. Jesus had found four helpers.

Jesus still needed more people to help

him tell people about God.

He met a tax collector called Matthew. Matthew spoke to Jesus and left his job so that

he could help him.

Jesus chose more people

Their names were Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, another man called James, Thaddeus, Simon and

Judas.

Jesus now had twelve helpers. He called them his disciples. Jesus taught them all about God.
