Detailed description of the project The projects’ purpose is the preparation of all relevant studies and other documentation which are required for the approval, funding and procurement of municipal waste processing and disposal facilities, that will serve eleven (11) Municipalities and two (2) Communities in Sterea Ellada Region. The permanent served population is 116.498 citizens and the average annual municipal waste production is 68.000 ton/year. The proposed waste processing and disposal facilities of this specific Waste Management Section, according to the relevant Regional Waste Management Plan of Sterea Ellada are: One sanitary landfill site with an annual capacity of 68.000t/y (average of years 2011 – 2030) and a total volume of 1.835.000 m3 Initially the municipal solid waste will be deposited in the landfill without any pre-treatment. After the construction of the new MBT Plant close to the new landfill site, only residues will be deposited, thereby prolonging the landfills’ lifetime. A Mechanical - Biological Treatment Plant (MBT) which is proposed to be constructed close to the new landfill. More specifically, an area of 35.000 m2 has been set aside beside the landfill basin for the intended construction of the new MBT Plant. One or two waste transfer stations which are not included in the contract objectives. The specific projects’ objectives included the following: SITING STUDY Identification and Evaluation of the most appropriate areas for the location of the sanitary landfill. Four (4) alternative sites have been identif ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT STUDY A detailed E.I.A. study was elaborated for the most appropriate site. FEASIBILITY STUDY The Feasibility Study consists of a Technical Preliminary Design Study (which included Topographical Survey, Geotechnical Study, Geological/ A) Landfill Site: • A Landfill basin for the municipal waste disposal with an area of 92.000 m2 and net volume 1.835.000 m3. • A Landfill sealing layer with geocomposite liner (0.50 m compacted clay with K1x10-9m/sec + 2.00mm geomembrane). • A Biogas collection network and biogas flaring station 1500Nm3/hr. • A Leachate collection and treatment system . • Administrative building, garage and other infrastructure works. • Mobile equipment (Truck, Compactor, Bulldozer). Detailed description of the project

The projects’ purpose is the preparation of all relevant studies and other documentation which are required for the approval, funding andprocurement of municipal waste processing and disposal facilities, that will serve eleven (11) Municipalities and two (2) Communities inSterea Ellada Region.The permanent served population is 116.498 citizens and the average annual municipal waste production is 68.000 ton/year.
