The IslandsThe Whitsundays consist of 74 islands located in the middle of the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. These islands are pristine, with 66 in their natural state. The area is well protected for future generations through programs such as the Ecotourism Certification, administered by Ecotourism Australia.

Sailing Since 1985 we have been providing Whitsunday Sailing Tours. This 2 Day 2 Night Maxi Sailing Adventure is perfect for guests who are after an amazing sailing experience while at the same time making new friends. Our experienced crew take the worry out of sailing around the islands and reefs. With all Marine and Park Permits, we will take you to the best locations planned around the prevailing wind and tides. There are many smooth water stops nestled around the islands, so your overnight anchorages will be pleasant for sleeping while offering spectacular scenery!

Maxis are environmentally friendly - because they sail so easily they use less fuel, so when you sail on a Maxi you are doing the right thing by the environment.

Maxis are spacious - as you can see in these photos, heaps of deck space for sunbathing or relaxing. Did you know two London Red Buses end to end would fit on the deck of a Maxi!

Best Odds of Whitehaven Beach visit - because Maxis were built to race around the world, including sailing the great Southern Ocean, they easily sail around the Whitsunday Islands and if the winds blow up to 20 knots you have a better chance of getting to Whitehaven Beach on a Maxi. This is where the Size and Power of a Maxi under sail cannot be beaten.

Maxis offer great Stability and they are Safe. They do this because they are 1) Big, 2) Maxis power up with the wind in the sails & slice through the waves rather than going up & down over them. 3) They have big keels below the vessel, which hold the vessels down in the water and reduce the amount of bobbing up & down, particularly at anchor.

Maxis are Fun - Guests are welcome to get involved, have a turn on the wheel, set the sails and pump on the Coffee Grinder Winches.... or if you’re not into the activity.... just relax on the decks!

Broomstick was built in South Africa to win the Cape Town to Rio Race. From there she went on to compete in many famous events including the Sydney to Hobart. Broomstick finished racing in 2000 and in 2001 was converted for charter tours. Be aware, the racing spirit remains.

Raced under the name Ondine VII & achieved great success, including 1st place in World Maxi Series Races. Boomerang was built in Italy and was still racing in NZ until 2001. SouthernCross Since 1985 Southern Cross Sailing has provided high action sailing for 18 to 35s and the young at heart. Accommodation is open plan with double or single beds and shared bathroom.

Sailing the Whitsundays since 1994, Prosail provides high action Sailing for the 18 to 35s aboard Maxi Yachts and deluxe sail options for the more discerning guest.

Travel to the Whitsundays Airlie Beach is located in North Queensland, 1150km’s north of Brisbane and 630km’s south of Cairns. Airports - Whitsunday Coast Airport at Proserpine [PPP]. 30 minute shuttle or taxi transfer to Airlie Beach. - Hamilton Island Airport [HTI]. Transfer via ferry to the mainland and Shuttle to Airlie Beach.Express Coach - Services are available to Airlie Beach. Oz Experience also stops in Airlie Beach. Queensland Rail - Services to Proserpine from Brisbane or Cairns, with Bus or Taxi transfer to Airlie Beach.

What to Pack Guests are asked to pack in a soft bag. We suggest: Swimmers, Sarong, Beach Towel, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Jacket or Sweater, Hat, Camera (& batteries), Sandals/Joggers/Thongs, Toiletries, and your favourite music CD’s or iPods.

Tour Inclusions Services of Captain and Crew, all meals (**including special diets), snorkel gear and instruction and linen. Activities: sailing, snorkelling, coral viewing, island visits and guided bush walks. ** some dietary requests have a surcharge payable.

Reservations, Confirmations, Check-in All Guests are asked to check-in for a briefing & to pick-up boarding passes at Shop 1, 4 The Esplanade Airlie Beach. We are open 7:30am to 7:00pm. Guests who check-in online are still required to come to our office to pickup Boarding Passes.
