Overview of the HBA● 35th year as non-profit association
● Formed in 1977 by five professional women in NY area and legally incorporated in 1979
● Governed by board of directors and ~300 leaders of local chapter boards
● Work accomplished by 40% of membership who volunteer, 15 professional staff, and The Charles Group, our meeting support team for flagship events
● Nearly 30,000 event attendees and customers, 6,400 of which are members and more than 101 corporate partners
● 15 chapters across the US and in Europe offering ~250 events annually

Luminary Award
• Since 1998 the HBA has honored over 1,000 Rising Stars.
• To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Woman of the Year we added a new award to honor these past Rising Stars, the HBA Luminary.
• 25 past Rising Stars who have made a significant impact on the healthcare industry and/or experienced significant career advancement since receiving their Rising Star award were named Luminaries.

WOTY event scheduleEvent Badges● Rising Star and Luminary badges will be available at the reception registration
desks for the Salute to the Stars (Wed. 4/30 – Mercury Ballroom) or at the onsite registration desk at WOTY prior to the Welcome Reception (Thurs. 5/1)
● All other event registrants will be ticketed. There will be badging stations available in the morning receptions for other guests to print out a badge.
Salute to the Stars Reception – Wednesday, April 30 Invitees: By invitation only - WOTYs, Honorable Mentor, STAR, Luminaries, all
Rising Stars, HBA board leadership● Location/Time:
— Mercury Ballroom, 3rd Floor, Hilton, NY— 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
● Photo Opportunity:— Beginning at 6:00 PM, a photographer will be available near the registration
desk in the Rotunda of the Mercury Ballroom. Individual photos are not mandatory; photos will be available following the WOTY event
— Group shot to be taken towards the end of the reception in front of the stage (Mandatory)

● Attendees: All luncheon attendees. Please invite any family member or colleagues who are registered to attend the luncheon to join you.
● Location/Time: — America’s Hall 1 &2 , 3rd Floor, Hilton, NY— 10:00 AM - 11:45 AM
● Transition into WOTY luncheon ballroom — At 11:45 AM all Rising Stars should proceed to the elevator bank to go to
the 4th floor— TCG will help you find your seat in the balcony (your award box will double
as your place card)— Luminaries will sit at tables at the front of the ballroom

● Stairs on stage left and right for access

● Luminaries, Past WOTYs, VIPs and Presenters will be seated in the front row ballroom floor
● Luminaries will be seated in alphabetical order; there will be a place card with your name and number on it
● Rising Stars will be seated in the balcony
● Tickets printed and mailed on Friday, April 18th

Receiving your Award (Rising Stars)● TCG will let you know when to start lining up to come down the
stairs (approx 12:10 PM)
● VOG will announce RS (RS and company info on screen)
● Rising Stars will be called to the stage in groups of 5 from alternating sides (awards will be given before coming on stage)

Receiving your Award: Rising Stars● When you come on stage you should remain on the left and right
sides (teal areas noted below).
● The lights will shine on you as you are announced.
● Take a bow/photo at end w/ awards in air
● RS return to their seats as lights dim for the video

Receiving your Award: Luminaries● Luminaries will receive their awards starting at ~12:39 PM
● Laurie Cooke will introduce the award and VOG will invite you to the stage; this will be done in alphabetical order (you will be seated alphabetically; a place card with your name and number will be on the table; #1-13 will be seated on East side; #14-25 on the West side)
● You will receive your awards as you walk onto the stage
● Stay on the stage until all names are called, then return down the stairs at the front of the stage to your tables

Maximizing your award
● Maximize the WOTY events and receptions on April 30 and May 1— Meet all the honorees, have your photo taken, network
● Post-WOTY activities to maximize your Rising Star Award within your company, your personal network, and with the HBA— Network with senior leaders and HR representatives within your company— Write an article for your company’s newsletter or intranet — Meet with past Rising Stars, Luminaries and WOTYs— Discuss your leadership development plan with your manager — Seek leadership development opportunities on company projects/task forces
(i.e. Internal Women’s Network)— Send copies of PharmaVOICE PDF and press release — Rekindle contacts you value, update your resume and social network profiles
and organizations you may be affiliated with— Join the Rising Star group on LinkedIn and add the logo to your profile— Be proactive as you meet people— Engage and follow-up with personal thank you notes and emails

Leveraging your award beyond WOTY
• Become an HBA member (if you have not done so already)• Participate in HBA Rising Star recognition events (corporate and local) • Attend a local HBA chapter event (check www.hbanet.org)• Attend the HBA Annual Conference (November 12-14, Chicago) and
participate in the Rising Star breakfast• Meet local chapter board leadership, committee chairs and past Rising
