The distinguished woman, a steady chatzos partner, later called back to elaborate on her story:

“In the last few years we have experienced a lot of hardship with our son – an older boy. It seems we have been destined to go through child raising challenges, but lately it had risen to a whole new level of agony when he lost his job, which had been keeping him “busy”. His unemployment put him into depression and broke his spirit, and had a huge negative impact on the rest of the household.”

“Hearing that “Kollel Chatzos” will have a group in Meron this year, we decided to submit our son’s name for

a special prayer at R’ Shimon’s resting place.” When the esteemed chatzos group was on the way home from Eretz Yisroel, the phone rang in the office and she

excitedly reported the latest news: “Our son is settled with a

new job B"H! A daily routine and steady income has restored his self confidence and inner joy and our entire home has been transformed!


Reb Mordechai of Cheynobyl had a servant in his house that used to stoke the fire in the winter on the stove. The servant suffered from severe psoriasis and his body was covered with boils and painful ulcers.

Whenever the Rebbe saw the servant, he refrained from saying anything to him and his household and Chassidim were perplexed as the Rebbe’s tremendous compassion to Klal Yisroel was well known.

One day, the Rebbe noticed the servant crying and in immense pain. The Tzaddik called out, “Tatte in Himmel, let it be enough already!” Later that day, the servant suddenly passed away.

The Rebbe’s household asked him for an explanation to this occurrence and he related the following story:

The Rebbe’s father, the Tzaddik Reb Menachem Nachum of Chernobyl was destitute and his family always nearly starved. There was a rich man in the town who appreciated the Tzaddik and he took it upon his responsibility to provide the Rebbe with his basic needs. After a while of providing for the Rebbe, the rich man started feeling

heady and exalted to the point that he proposed that the Rebbe’s son should marry his daughter. He assured the Rebbe that he would pay for all the wedding expenses yet the Rebbe refused his offer. The man begged the Rebbe to relent yet the Rebbe remained firm with his decision and thus the man turned into the Rebbe’s strongest opponent. He immediately stopped helping the Rebbe financially and sought only to make life difficult for him.

The rich man let his antagonism fester to the point where one evening he hired some ruffians to pursue the Rebbe’s daughter in the town’s street. The ruffians ran after her and she had no option but to flee from them in fear. At last, she arrived home and collapsed and fainted from exhaustion and fright.

Enjoy your Salmon this week like never before…the rich flavours will leave behind a mouth watering taste!

Ingredients:• 1 1/2 lbs raw salmon• 1/4 cup olive oil• 2 Tbsp toasted sesame oil• 2 Tbsp rice vinegar• 2 Tbsp s brown sugar• 2 Tbsp soy sauce• 2 garlic cloves, grated• 1 Tbsp freshly grated ginger• 1-2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds• 4 green onions, sliced

\Sesame Ginger Honey Glaze:• 1/4 cup honey• 1 tsp toasted sesame oil• 1 tsp soy sauce• 1/2 tsp freshly grated ginger• 1/2 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Combine all above ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Pour over salmon.

Directions:1. Line a baking sheet with aluminium foil and place a wire rack over top and spray the rack with non-stick spray.2. In a large bowl or baking dish, combine olive oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, vinegar and brown sugar and whisk well until combined. 3. Add salmon to the dish or place everything

in a Ziploc bag and refrigerate and marinate for 30 minutes.4. Preheat the broiler in your oven or grill. 5. Remove salmon with kitchen tongs and place directly on the wire rack. 6. Sprinkle with a little bit of salt and pepper and then place directly under the broiler and cook for 10-12 minutes, depending on the salmon’s thickness, until opaque and flakes easily with a fork. The salmon can be flipped halfway through cooking if desired.

7. Remove and serve immediately, with a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds, green onions and the Sesame Ginger Honey Glaze.

Since the 1960’s, Americans have been eating less saturated fat and consuming more vegetable oils, all in an attempt to prevent heart disease. Unfortunately, these days heart disease is the number one killer of American men and women, killing hundreds of thousands each year, and being responsible for 1 in 4 deaths. Since we’ve been anything but successful in our attempts to abolish heart disease, we need to completely re-evaluate the situation. Have we been wrong all along? Case in point: Research is now showing that vegetable oils may not be as heart-healthy as some have always imagined. In fact, they may even play a critical role in our current heart disease epidemic. Safflower Oil is Linked to Heart Problems and DeathBetween 1966 and 1973, a study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary fats on heart health. Researchers split more than 400 men who had suffered a recent cardiac event into two groups. One group was instructed to avoid saturated fats but include more safflower oil — a rich source omega-6 fats — in their diet. The other group was instructed to continue their usual eating habits. The data of this study was recently re-evaluated and published in the British Medical Journal., and the results were pretty surprising. The men who cut back on saturated fats were more likely

to have cardiac problems and die from all causes. Omega-6 Fats are InflammatorySo why is something like safflower oil associated with heart disease and even

death? It may have to do with it being a rich source of omega-6, an unsaturated

fatty acid.The typical Western diet contains excess amounts of omega-6 fats and too little omega-3 fats. Some estimates show the American diet

has an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 8:1, when optimal ratios for heart health are not greater

than 4:1. Excessive intake of omega-6 fats is

associated with inflammation, blood clots, increased blood viscosity and

decreased bleeding time, and even plaque formation in certain populations. In contrast, omega-3 fatty acids stop inflammation, have blood thinning effects, and protect against plaque.

The Bottom LineFor optimal heart health, it’s important that you decrease the amount of omega-6s in your diet while simultaneously increasing the amount of omega-3s.

Dentist Alfred P. Southwick watched a drunk man accidentally shock himself to death in 1881. This inspired him to come up with a new method for executing people on death row.
