Time to get at the comput-er and put together another mes-sage.
This past month has not been real conducive to getting our A‘s out and ready for the summer. After last month‘s tech talk, we should have all the infor-mation at hand and ready to get to work.
We begin this month with our annual breakfast cookout fol-lowed by a short road trip to the Schram fish hatchery near Louis-ville. We will be able to road test our cars to see if they are ready for more and longer road trips this summer. We have had lots of good ideas as to activities for the summer and will have to pri-oritize since I don‘t think that we
will be able to do everything. I would like to welcome
our newest newlywed couple back this month Steve and Nikki Anderson. Hope that you had a good time on your cruise and we will be expecting some photo-graphs.
Here‘s hoping that the spring showers subside and the sun will come out and shed some good weather on our travels in the coming months.
Will close for now and get this to Dale in time for the news-letter.
See you all at the break-
fast and up coming meeting. Lee Hendrix

Pancakes and Fish
May 1st started out cool but turned out to be a beautiful day to be out Model “A”ing. Twenty six members
with 12 Model A‟s showed up at the Chalco Recreation Area for breakfast by the lake. The food was
great but the conversations and the time spent examining the cars was even more fun. After everyone had
their fill of pancakes, sausages, and pecan rolls most of us proceeded to the Aksarben Aquarium. This is
really a great facility with a wonderful collection of the fish native to Nebraska. A big thank you to Sherri
and Roland Kunz for the pecan rolls, Bob and Mary McKinney for bringing the food, Doug Heeren for
mixing the batter, and Ed Jankowski who shared grill duty with me.

What can be said about a tour to a mu-seum such as Ber-nie‘s by a group of car people? I for one en-joyed looking at the large variety of cars from over the years. I liked the convertibles, and noticed that some of the cars appeared to be un-restored.

Henry Doorly Zoo
The Henry Doorly Zoo has contacted our club to help them celebrate an event called ZOOM. They would
like as many cars as we can get there from our club on Sunday, June 19. This is the day after the Benson
Ford Show. The times are from 8:15 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The basic concept of the event is to focus on dif-
ferent types of vehicles-and will also tie into the speed of the animals ( example: A Cheetah can run up to 70
mph ). I'm not sure where that places the Model A!!!
They want to place cars among the exhibits and will escort us into place before the Zoo opens. You can then
stay with your car, or go throughout the zoo until 3:00 pm, when they will escort us out to go home.
This will be an excellent opportunity to put our cars on display for the public to see. I encourage as many
members as possible to take advantage of this as possible.
Because we are willing to put our cars on display, they will admit the driver and
two passengers. They would like to have the names of the passengers so they will
have passes made out for them.
If you can let me know who all is attending as passengers I will forward it on the
zoo.

Seldin Co. Car Show and Old Fashion Ice Cream Social and Family Night The Meadowlark Model A Club has been asked to put on another car display for the Seldin Company at 123rd and West Center from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on July 21st. This is a Thursday night and they are having an old fashion ice cream social and family night. They will be looking for 25 cars, similar to last year. There will be a sign up sheet at the next meeting. To encourage attendance the club has purchased some really neat gifts for the first 25 members that sign up and then show up for the display. It does not count to only sign up, you also have to show up. If you don‘t show up your gift will be given to the next person that signed up. So mark your calendars and make sure you are at the next meeting to sign up or call me so I can put you on the list. This should be another fun night so plan to come out and support the club.

“Tech Talk” Talk
In April, we discussed parts and tools you should have with you on tours. We
also talked about possible ways to cure leaks in your Model „A‟s transmission.
After last month‟s tech talk, we agreed to cover the installation of king pins.
This is a rather complex procedure, because removing the old pins is many
times more work than installing the new pins. Therefore, I am going to post-
pone the king pin procedure to a time when we can do this in someone‟s gar-
age.
This month, we will discuss the Model „A‟ gas tank and related components. A
cut-away tank will be there so you can see how tanks are made. We will have
some tips on what you might do if you are having gas flow problems. Hope to
see you at the May meeting. Don Graves
May Baskets
Meanwhile, the ladies had a good time making May Day bas-
kets, using flowers and ribbons that Sherri Kunz provided.
We will find something fun to do this month, too. We will
explore some parlor games that we might want to play while
the men “work.” If you have an idea for a fun game that
doesn‟t take too much concentration (so we can chat, too),
bring it along. Janet Graves

THE LOFTE COMMUNITY THEATRE
Plan on having a good laugh. One of this year's outings is going to be a comedy by the name of LEAVING IOWA. It's about a middle-aged writer who returns home to Iowa and decides to finally take his father's ashes to his childhood home. But when he discovers Grandma's house is now a grocery store, he begins traveling across Iowa searching for a proper resting place for his father. This father and son road trip shifts from the present to his memories of the annual, torturous vacations of his childhood. Sound like fun?? We are planning this outing for Sunday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m. You can purchase your tickets by calling the theater at 402-234-2553. The cost of a ticket is $17.00. Tickets can be mailed for an additional charge of $1.50, or they can hold them at the theater for you. We are planning to eat at the Cedar Creek Steakhouse after the play. Any questions call Mary Denker at 402-333-1393
From the Editor: Well we had our first driving tour to begin our driving season. My car got back fine, and now I know I have to work on my brake lights. I haven‘t heard from any oth-ers, but I guess maybe a gas can in the trunk might be useful for some of us. I know that some of you run across humor (jokes). If you can think about it, please pass them on to me at a meeting, mail or email them to me. I would like to add some tech articles. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or articles, get with me, and I will publish them in the newsletter. Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any ideas for upcoming newsletters or phone me on 402-949-0521. Dale
