Love One Another as I Have Loved You . . . In John 15:12, Jesus says,
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
Loving & caring for one another is not just the pastor’s job ~ it’s something
Jesus calls us all to do! Stephen Ministry is a ministry in which people with
special gifts for caring can put those gifts to use in an organized way, bring-
ing Jesus’ love & care to those who most need it.
If you know someone who is going through a difficult time, contact Lead-
er Diane Ream, 899-6762 about Stephen Ministry. Our Stephen Ministers are
ready to provide focused, confidential, one-to-one Christian care ~ to help

Reception of Confirmands
The Caring Church in the Heart of the City!
Reaffirmation of the
Baptismal Covenant
REAFFIRMATION OF THE BAPTISMAL COVENANT RECEPTION OF CONFIRMANDS
PRESENTATION ~
Elder
On behalf of the Session, I present Marrick Bauer, having
completed Confirmation, for the reaffirming of the baptismal
covenant into which he was baptized. He now desires to pro-
fess publicly his faith and to assume greater responsibility in
the life of the church, and God’s mission in the world.
Pastor
As you join with us in the worship and witness to Jesus Christ
as a disciple in this congregation, it is fitting that together we
reaffirm the covenant into which we were baptized, claiming
again the promises of God which are ours in our baptism.
We rejoice that you now desire to declare your faith
and to share with us in our common ministry.
In baptism you were joined to Christ,
and made members of his church.
In the community of the people of God,
you have learned of God’s purpose for you and for all creation.
You have been nurtured at the table of our Lord,
and called to witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Hear these words from Holy Scripture:
You are the light of the world.
A city built on a hill cannot be hid.
No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket,
but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.
In the same way, let your light so shine before others,
so that they may see your good works
and give glory to your Father in heaven.
PROFESSION OF FAITH ~
Now, as you publicly declare your faith,
I ask you to reject sin,
to profess your faith in Jesus Christ,
and to confess the faith of the church,
the faith in which you were baptized.
Trusting in the gracious mercy of God,
do you once again turn from the ways of sin
and renounce evil in the world?
I DO.
Do you once again affirm Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior,
trusting in his grace and love?
I DO.
Will you seek to be Christ’s faithful disciple,
obeying his Word and showing his love?
I WILL, WITH GOD’S HELP.
PROFESSION ~
With the whole church, let us confess our faith.
Do you believe in God the Father?
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God?
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit?
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

You have publicly professed your faith.
Will you be a faithful member of this congregation,
share in its mission and ministry, its worship and work,
through your prayers and gifts, your study and service,
and so fulfill your calling to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?
I WILL, WITH GOD’S HELP.
Gracious God, by water and Spirit
you claimed us as your own,
Cleansing us from sin, and giving us new life.
You made us members of your body, the church,
calling us to be your servants in the world.
Renew in Marrick Bauer,
the covenant you made in his baptism.
Continue the good work you have begun in him.
Send him forth in the power of your Spirit
to love and serve you with joy,
and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth,
