Class Placement Parent/Guardian Input Much of the planning for a new school year has already begun! We are currently discussing

organizational structures, class placements, special education delivery models, teaching assignments

and timetabling.

Class placement decisions are made following careful consideration of a number of criteria: balance

of student skill development, interests and talents, gender balance, class size (consistent with

Board and Ministry guide‐lines), learning style, learning partners and social factors. While friendship

issues can play a role in the comfort level of some students, at particular developmental stages

some friends learn best in separate classes.

Often parents have new and /or important information to share about their child which lends

assistance to class  placement decisions. Parent input that is received in writing by June 9th, 2017

will be considered (and shared)  during placement meetings. Please avoid naming a teacher as

staffing can vary. Input received after June 9th will not be considered due to the complexity of the

task. Please be advised that while such input is valued, it cannot  drive class placement decisions

since school‐wide limitations and a variety of other factors will, at times take  precedence. Final

decisions regarding student placement remain the responsibility of the Principal and the school

staff. Ministry mandates on class size will impact class placements into September. As a result, we

will, regretfully,  be unable to share class placement information with  families until just prior to

school opening. Thank you for partnering with us in this very important task.

year’s theme of 'Canada 150‐ This is Us.'  More details and information on performances to follow in the next coming weeks.

Jump Rope for Heart – Celebrating 35 years! Look at how much has changed in the last 35 years! - Hand written letters became e-mail - Cameras no longer require film - Phone booths became Cell Phones - Computers that once filled a room, now fit in the palm of your hand - 15 songs used to fit on a record the size of a plate, now you can fit thousands of songs in your pocket And…Heart and Stroke Jump Rope for Heart grew from a one-day fundraiser in a handful of Schools in 1982 to a nationwide success! Our focus on kids’ health is as strong as ever, as is our passion for getting and keeping kids active. Jump into a tradition that is 35 years strong! This year marks Jump Rope for Heart’s 35th Anniversary and the Heart and Stroke Foundation is striving to get 1 million kids jumping in close to 4,000 schools across Canada. Be part of it!
