NJHS NEWS The 2012-2013 National Junior Honor Society group was amazing! Each member is required to do at least 12 hours of communi-

ty service. This year’s group collectively spent over 3,299.5 hours volunteering!!! That is an average of 25.8 hours per member.

We adopted a road in Erie to clean in the fall and spring, we donated money to support the Ghana Library, and we raised over

$500 to support Operation Santa.

To be invited into NJHS you have to have a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 for the first three quarters of the school year. You also have

to uphold high standards in the areas of citizenship, character, leadership and service. Below you will find a list of 8 th graders

moving on to high school, current 7th grade members, followed by the new NJHS inductees to be honored on Tuesday, April 30

from 6:30 to 8:00 in the cafetorium.

Thank you for an amazing year.

Mrs. Jensen

Internet Safety

The Internet plays a large role in how and what children/adolescents learn. The Internet has many bene-fits such as an increased availability of educational resources and access to global communication. How-ever, there can be hidden dangers with using the Internet, such as invasion of privacy and exposure to inappropriate material. Listed below are some Internet safety tips:

Place the computer in a visible area

Discuss Internet safety with your son/daughter

Educate your son/daughter to never give out personal of family information, credit card information, or passwords online.

Teach your son/daughter that people they meet in chat rooms or on the Internet have the same risks as strangers on the street

Show them that communication online should follow same rules as personal communication, for ex-ample it should be respectful.

Know who your son/daughter is communicating with online and use the parental control features online.
