President’s Report …………………………………………………………………………………

Hi Everyone,

Here we are again for another instalment of my

report.

As you would be aware the renovation of the hall

is in now in progress and causing us a few

headaches, but that is to be expected.

Unfortunately, we also had a couple of weeks with

no lights due to vandals attacking the transformer.

We had our inaugural Doggy Go Go Obstacle Dash

and it went very well. All competitors had a good

time. There were some minor teething problems

like the ball pool flipping but all will be ironed out

by next year so get ready for the next one.

My appreciation goes to the Doggy Go Go Obstacle

Dash sub-committee headed by Erik and all the

volunteers. A special mention goes to Rosie who

came as a fairy. Congratulations go to the winner

and placegetters and the rest of the competitors

who took part. And Jenny and Troy and their dog

Scrappy who did the course twice because he liked

it so much while the rest of the family took Frosty

the other dog through once. I believe Scrappy is blind. With

such good feedback I am sure it will be an ongoing event with

increased participation.

Our Members’ Competition was a great success too. Thanks

to Maria and Lenore along with the dedicated volunteers. I

appreciate all the hard work. Congratulations again to all

participants. I can see a lot of improvement has been done by

the owners and their dogs. I enjoyed having the chance to

meet so many members and it was very rewarding to see so

many people enjoying themselves.

In agility, the National Competitions are very soon and many

of our instructor group and other members are heading to the

Eastern States to compete. I would like to wish them well in

their endeavours. The training in agility will be suspended for

a couple of weeks this term until they get back. See the

calendar for more information.

Keep up with events happening on our webpage and our

social media sites.

If you are able to volunteer in some capacity, please make

yourself known to your instructor or the van staff. We also are

after volunteers to run this club. It would not run if it was not

for volunteers.

See you all at training

From the Editor

Hello Members,

Can you believe that it is May already!? Goodness the first part of the year has flown by. The start to our

training year seems to have had more interruptions than normal, but now that we are into winter months, it will

be training as usual.

We had the fantastic Doggy Go Go Obstacle Dash which proved to be a very popular event. We are already

fielding questions as to when the next one will be. You’ll have to sweet talk Erik and his Committee on that one

as it wouldn’t have happened without their dedication.

I’d also like to thank everyone who made the effort to join in the Members’ Competition. It was very rewarding

to see so many people enjoying the day. It was a real pleasure to get the chance to meet so many of you and

your wonderful dogs. A special thanks go to Nutro for their generous sponsorship of our club. They have been

looking after us for years and their support is appreciated. There will be more Members’ Competitions this year

so be sure to mark them in your calendar.

Have fun at training.

Lenore

The Doggy Go Go Obstacle Dash!

On Sunday the 10th of April dogs from all areas far and wide congregated at the NST&ODC grounds with their owners for a fun survival challenge. The first ever DOGGY GO GO OBSTACLE DASH was held!

With just under 100 entries, each dog and their owner or team needed to battle 15 obstacles which were designed to build trust and to encourage bonding as each dog and owner needed to help each other through the many challenges to get to the finish line. Some obstacles included a lot of mud, so we had some fantastically muddy dogs by the end of the course! We had a

mudslide, a camouflage net crawl through mud, lava-

hopping, wheelbarrow race, Lumberjack Waddle stilt walking, a hay bale pyramid, a spooky tunnel, the car yard escape, the Krazy Kangaroo sack race, Faerie Fumble and we even had a mini Everest to scramble up and over! Then finally, a spot to catch your breath and rest and have get a photo taken at the Mug Shot station. After many months of planning, sourcing sponsors, equipment, obstacle ideas, entry forms, and of course the behind the scenes nitty

gritty bits and pieces, the Dash was ready to be put to the test The day started before 6am for the Dash gang and their fantastic group of volunteers. By 9am, everything had

been set up, all obstacles had been given the tick of approval and we were ready to start the competition category.

Congratulations to our first, second and third male and female winners. First prize (overall fastest time) took out 2 nights accommodation at Spearwood Valley pet friendly farm stay in Donnybrook. First prize in the female category was awarded a huge deluxe hamper made up and donated by Warwick Veterinary Hospital. Later in the morning the recreational entries who had waited so patiently, were up and rearing to go. The Dash was an extremely fun morning, everyone had a fantastic time, there was laughter, cheering, wagging tails and very muddy people (and dogs). Teams were helping each other up and down, over and under: encouragement here, assistance there. A great success! We drew quite a big crowd: walkers passing by would stop, watch, laugh and cheer while others were keen to want to enter. We are aware there is much room for improvement, things we can change or do better for next year to make it even more enjoyable for dogs and their owners. The 5 organizers for the event were Erik & Jen Sauter, Daniela Fischer, Harry Glasgow & Judith Ryan and none of this could ever have been made possible without our dedicated volunteers and stewards and of course our amazing sponsors who either donated huge prizes or donated valuable equipment:

Members’ Competition On Sunday 1st of May we held our first Members’ Competition for the year. The weather was

perfect and there was a high level of excitement. Everyone seemed to enjoyed themselves. It was a

lovely chance for the club members to get together, relax and to meet other dog owners. Everyone

was quite happy going into the rings and feed-back from the

judges was all very positive. We are very lucky

to have such wonderful members and clever

trainers. A huge thanks goes to Nutro for

supplying all the prizes.

Congratulations to those place getters,

those who went up a level, and those

who just gave it a go. There will be

another competition later in the year

so keep an eye out for it and be sure

to sign up for that one.

INNER PEACE

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
