DELIVERING A BIG ‘THANK YOU’President of General Agents Chuck Mankamyer enjoys personally connecting with Eagles and other top producers from all over the country. Hometown visits include fine dining and the opportunity to let them know how much the Company appreciates their dedication and commitment to excellence.
BIG TURNOUT FOR UA WORKSHOP IN FLORIDAMore than 100 appointed UA Agents participated in a training workshop led by Senior Regional Director Gary Owen and Senior Director of Agent Systems and Development Dave Oliver. The event on March 31 in Boca Raton, Florida, was part of UA’s ongoing commitment to help all our appointed Agents achieve their growth goals.
ATTN AGENTSUA consumer Form 3728 has been updated. Each applicant who purchases an MMGAP health policy from UA must complete and sign this form. Order a new supply at UA Online.
AND THE WINNER IS …Congratulations to UA Agent Gina Savage, winner of a $1,000 Visa Gift Card!
I met Donna Ahlbum of the Ahlbum Group by sheer luck. I met her husband Jon late that day and never looked back. The two are a powerhouse team yet sweet as can be and oh so helpful. That chance encounter changed my outlook on selling Medicare Supplement insurance and is changing my life! I am newly-appointed with UA and have sold almost 20 Medicare Supplement policies. I have hit the goal of fast start and opted for the Mikogo to expand my reach. My husband also works with me as well as nine referred team members, and our numbers are growing fast.
I love helping folks with Medicare and what better way than offering the best prices for the exact same coverage as other companies. I plan to stay with the Ahlbum Group for life and let me be the first to say there is much money to be made. If you focus on explaining Medicare, people will buy a supplement policy. If they understand it, they will buy it. This career and being part of this Company is simply, well, a no brainer!
You can be a winner, too! If you’re appointed with UA or First UA, attend one of our free webinars and you’ll be automatically entered in to our monthly contest. Winners are selected at random.
ANNUITY RATEThe Lifestyle Annuity rate for May 2016 is 3.00%. We are not approved to sell the SPDA product in CO or NY.

2 MAY 2016 think BIG
I can’t think of a better example than the Grand Canyon to show how small but persistent actions over time can achieve spectacular results on a large scale. The erosion that created those canyon walls happened bit by bit and took millions of years — but, wow, what a masterpiece! In this industry we know that persistence really pays off. With lots of activity and perseverance, we can cut through whatever gets in our way and accomplish great things.
Sometimes, we limit ourselves when we imagine what could be. We don’t think big enough. Our visions are limited because we base them on what we know we can do, rather than what we want to achieve. Most of us can do much more than we realize if we just believe we can and then refuse to let the scope of our goals overwhelm us. ‘Little by little’ will get you to one level and then the next.
NEVER SAY NEVERI know many of you are saying to yourselves, I’m too far along in my career … I don’t have the luxury of time … I want it NOW. I hear you. But the good news is it’s never too late in life to make it big. You just have to look at some of the greatest entrepreneurs in our nation’s history to find examples of that:
w Ray Kroc spent his career as a milkshake device salesman before buying McDonald's at age 52 in 1954.
w Thomas Edison established the Edison General Electric Company in 1890 by bringing his various businesses together. He was 43 at the time.
w In 1911, Charles Runlet Flint, 61, formed the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company. In 1924, it was re-branded as International Business Machines (IBM).
PEOPLE ARE THE DRIVING FORCEOf course, none of these entrepreneurs could have achieved everything they did without enlisting the right people to help them get there. United American’s own founder, C.L. Dunlap, understood how important teamwork can be. At the Company’s 30-year anniversary celebration in 1977 he said:
For I have found that, although good policies are necessary in the insurance industry, it is really the people involved who make a company. It is you, and those like you, who have made United American what it is today, whether you have been associated with the Company for a matter of days or for many years….
That message still holds true today. All of you help make our Company one of this industry’s finest. We appreciate you, and will continue to provide the highest level of support and service so that you can achieve … anything.
THE POWER OF MOREOf course, the more people you recruit, the faster you’ll make your vision a reality. Not only does building a team increase your income, but it also multiplies the inroads you can make in your communities. With many Agents in the field your Agency brand becomes more well-known, and like the mighty Colorado River, their presence can
carve out bigger and better opportunity for growth.
As we head into the summer months and the lull before we start ramping up for AEP, now’s a perfect time to focus on recruiting. New Agents will have plenty of opportunities to enroll in our many training webinars so they’ll be ready to hit the ground running.
Think BIG.

WELCOME TO
Salespeople keep our economy
growing, and it’s one of the only professions in which the individual completely controls his or her income with no limit placed on earning potential.
What’s the most lucrative sales industry? What type of sales position markets a product that’s recession proof? Is there an opportunity for a salesperson to increase his or her income without increasing work load? Let’s review….
Auto Sales – Sell a car and make an initial commission, but when the buyer makes a car payment in the future, none of it goes to the salesperson.
Real Estate – Sell a house and make an initial commission, but when the buyer makes a monthly mortgage payment, none of it goes to the salesperson.
Telephone Sales – Sell a new phone along with a monthly service plan and make an initial commission, but when the buyer makes a monthly payment, none of it goes to the salesperson.
NOW LET’S LOOK AT INSURANCE SALES You earn a commission with the initial sale, and every time the buyer pays a premium the sales person makes a commission! It’s one of the few sales opportunities where this week’s sales positively affects this year’s income and will also impact future years’ income in a positive way as long as the business stays on the books. Only insurance sales provides a renewal income, and here at UA and First UA that renewal income is paid for the life of policy on all products except our annuity and MA disenrollment guarantee issue Medicare Supplement insurance policies.
As one of our appointed Agents you have a unique opportunity. Bring salespeople on your team, help them appoint with UA, and enable them to reap the rewards only
our Agents enjoy – AND you can earn an override on their issued business. This will provide you additional revenue channels to drive your income upward.
PRESENTING THE OPPORTUNITYWhen you share our great sales opportunity with people who sell something other than insurance products, we suggest asking if they’re meeting their income goals. If they tell you ‘no’, you may want to share your story and talk about the benefits of selling our much needed insurance products and the amazing income that can be earned now and in the future without having to do additional work (again assuming the business stays on the books).
If they say they are meeting their income goals, you can always encourage them to think bigger, and imagine a career with no limits to their earning potential.

GREAT
CAREER PATH!

The toughest part about thinking big is it can be easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of work you believe it may take to achieve your goals. As you envision yourself at the helm of your own thriving Agency, don’t be discouraged by your ‘to do’ list. Tasks don’t have to be gigantic in scope to be effective. Small, but well-targeted, actions can overcome the toughest obstacles if you’re persistent in applying them. Like the water that flowed over rock to help carve out the Grand Canyon, they can create big results!
Don’ t Stop Now! To keep the momentum going you could ….
Offer Agent Incentives: Bonuses are always welcomed, but consider other options, such as a weekend getaway to a nearby resort or front row seats to a hometown sports or cultural event.
Ramp up Your Social Media: Use your Social Media platforms to show the positives of working at your Agency so that people contact you to see if there’s availability.
Tell Them Who You Are: In job ads present a clear and comprehensive description of what it’s like working for your Agency, including the mission statement, goals, and support systems in place for your Agents.
Send Personalized Emails: Send a well thought-out, personalized email to candidates of interest to explain who you are, what (roughly) impresses you about their history, and a request to speak soon.
Create a Video or Slideshow about your Agency: Short visual presentations are a great way to sell prospective recruits on your brand.
Leverage Existing Agent Base: Recruits who have a personal connection to the recruiter are often more committed because they’ve been brought in to the Agency by someone they know.
Attend Industry Events: These are opportunities to meet many people in the industry who could turn out to be the kind of qualified talent you’ve been searching for.
As an independent Agent, only you can determine your growth strategy. But, as always, UA and First UA support teams are standing by to help.
So think BIG!
IT ALL STARTS WITH TEAMWORKA low-cost, easy-to-implement task, our ‘true teamwork’ plan is designed to help you grow your business. Here’s how it works:
You and/or your team schedule a recruiting event at a local venue (usually a hotel), invite contractible Agents, and order light refreshments.
We will cover a portion of the venue expense (paid directly to the venue), with the amount dependent on the number of contractible Agents in attendance. A Director from the Home Office will attend to help recruit attending Agents for your Agency.
Number of Contractible Agents Amount We Pay
20 $50030 $75040 $1,000
We also provide a PowerPoint presentation you may use to show all the great benefits of representing UA and First UA. And because we’re confident attendees will want to get appointed right away, we’ll supply the contracts they’ll need to get started. They'll be coded to your Agency!

A BIG CHANGE IS COMING!
FIRST UA AGENTS:
As many of you are aware, First United American Life Insurance Company will be renamed Globe Life Insurance Company of New York beginning January 1, 2017. At that time, all business that was previously solicited on behalf of First UA will be sold for Globe Life Insurance Company of New York.
If you’re an Agent appointed with First UA, you may be wondering, How will this change affect me? Rest assured, you’ll still be working with the same great products and procedures you’re working with today. Only the name will change.
We’re excited about this significant rebranding, and anticipate it will bring increased opportunity for New York Agents. Consider:
During the past two years, First UA’s affiliate, Globe Life And Accident Insurance Company, has experienced a surge in name recognition – which has reached 35 percent nationally.
As the proud sponsor of Globe Life Park in Arlington, home to the Texas Rangers baseball team, the Globe Life brand is receiving more than half a million dollars in advertising value in the state of New York.
Today, the Globe Life brand name is more well-known than any other Torchmark subsidiary brand.
The name change from First UA to Globe Life Insurance Company of New York will help us make better use of this increased brand awareness. We look forward to the positive impact this change is likely to have on New York Agents as well as all the stakeholders in our great Company. As we approach the start of a new chapter in our history, we’re grateful to have so many dedicated Agents working with us during this exciting time. The best is yet to come!

production level to be eligible for Convention. Non-standard (Disability) Medicare Supplement production will not count towards qualification for Convention, Awards or Club honors.
