Let’s get ready for summer! With the official start just a few weeks away, it’s
time to clean the grill, make sure the outdoor umbrella still works, put away the
fire pit, clean the pool equipment, check the camping gear, and stock up on any
kind of mosquito repellant that works.

time to a local VA facility or USO, or make a donation to a veterans’ organization.

Carry The Load is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing an active, meaningful way to honor the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes — military, veterans, first responders and their families. Founded in 2011 by two veteran Navy SEALs, Carry The Load began in Dallas. It has expanded to include an East Coast Relay (West Point to Dallas); a West Coast Relay (Seattle to Dallas); and a Midwest Relay (Minneapolis to Dallas) throughout the month of May.
The relay routes in Texas vary in length with some for serious cyclists only, and others are open to the public for walking. To register for a route, go to www.carrytheload.org and click on the Register tab. Fundraising isvoluntary and not required for participation.For route information, click HERE and then scroll down to The Relay paragraph for the route links. Northeast Texas cities can be found on the East Coast Route Guide; Addison and Dallas are included in the Midwest Route Guide; cities in West Texas and Central Texas, Houston and the DFW metroplex are part of the West Coast Route Guide.
