Message from your Exalted Ruler…
Greetings to all Members of the Westbrook Lodge # 1784:
It has been a great start to a new year. The flowers are blooming and the weather is becoming warmer. Spring has finally arrived. The landscape committee and our volunteers are hard at work to beautify our lodge.
I would like to give a special thanks to Adam Palermo for spending the night with the Connecticut Special Olympics committee members and their plungers. The Elk's Lodge received a lot of recognition for our support both locally and nationally. Thanks to all of our Elk's family for your support!
Our State President Dave Acanfora and I know from personal experience, the water was very COLD!!!
I would like to thank the Emblem Club for inviting my wife and me to their Installation of Officers on April 7th. We had a wonderful time; they also made a generous Contribution to our Lodge that we will put to good use.
Our first Comedy/Hypnotist show with Bruce James was amazing. I’m sure we will see Bruce again. The Children’s Easter Egg Hunt was a big success as well. The kids of today will be our Elks of tomorrow! Also, the Sock Hop had a great attendance and was enjoyed by everyone. Easter Sunday brunch was delicious and no one went home hungry.
Volunteers are the ones that make all of these events happen!
Upcoming May Events:
May 4: Kentucky Derby Dinner and Dance (Make sure you wear your special hat!)
Lodge Spring Clean Up is May 4th at 8:00 AM, please consider volunteering (Bring your gardening tools.)
Trivia Night is back on Wednesday, May 15th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM
May 17: Emblem Club Fashion Show “You never know who will be walking the runway!”
Tickets are still available, but selling fast for the New York Yankees vs. the Boston Red Sox bus trip on Saturday August 3rd at Yankee Stadium.
In closing, please consider joining one of our volunteer teams. Volunteers are always needed and welcome, so please don’t hesitate. Our organization runs on Volunteers and it’s greatly appreciated.
The more people working for the same goals, the easier it is to achieve!
May God Bless You and Our Lodge!
Fraternally,
Ray Smith Exalted Ruler

Veterans Corner Much gratitude to you all for another very successful and well received Veterans Appreciation Luncheon. We are gearing up for our JUNE 22 VETERANS APPRECIATION LUNCHEON under our brand new pavilion, very exciting. This is our biggest Veterans event of the year complete with Patriot Guard Walk of Honor, Veterans Center mobile benefits motor home. We will also try have a nice contingent of military vehicles. At the end of our event that day weather permitting our own Pilot in command Kevin Minckler and I will entertain the crowd with our usual aerobatic display over the Lodge and Long Island Sound. Thanks to Chef Paul and his staff and volunteers, my fellow Veteran’s committee members, our officers, governing body, board of directors and our members for a great start to the 2019 season. Your Veteran’s committee is here and proud to serve those who serve, those who served and their families. Thanks for your service and welcome home! Bruce Fagan 203-417-8031│[email protected]

Lodge Bar Expansion Update
We are moving forward working with architectural firm Point One. They are in the pre-design process and revealed the applicable FEMA regulations. These regulations will control the total amount of funds which are available for us to spend. If we exceed this amount the entire building will have to be brought up to FEMA code. The cost would then become prohibitive. We will keep you updated as things progress and will get it started as soon as feasibly possible. We still will need the approval of the Westbrook Member Body and the Grand Lodge before construction can begin. Per Board of Directors
*** NEW *** Beginning with the May 28th Initiation, all new members will receive the Antlergram via e-mail. To opt out and
