We know that with this information you all may have a lot of questions regarding theLarimer County Fair Junior Livestock Sale County Shoots and other large events wehave scheduled in July and August Discussions around these events are currentlyoccurring but no definite decisions have been made at this time There are a lot of thingsto consider when making these decisions such as partners logistics and safety We willprovide you with more details as we have them We plan to have some specific answers onthese events by May 1

We appreciate your patience as we continue to identify educational opportunities for our 4-H members during this time If you have any questions please feel free to email or call usThank you all for your support and understanding through this time

Best Larimer County 4-H Team

Additional Information Here are some key points and updates for you all as we continue evaluating this situation

All 4-H Projects and Completion As a reminder participating at the county fair IS NOT a requirement for you to participate inany 4-H project Project completion requirements for Larimer 4-H are as follows

Participate in a demonstration or other speech-arts presentation Participate in a community service activity Exhibit your project (This does not say where this must occur We have pursuedother ways to exhibit that project without county fair attendance in the past andmembers were still able to complete their projects) Complete a record book for each project the member is enrolled and receive a scoreof 70 or above

We know that there will be a strain to do all four of these requirements this year and we willbe making decisions as an office as to what alterations might look like Please know thatwe recognize that numbers 3 and 4 above may be very difficult for animal projects if afamily decides to not purchase an animal or if exhibition and sale areas are limited

Colorado State Extension Larimer County OfficeIn an abundance of caution for our community and employees the Larimer CountyExtension Office is closed due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Larimer County Fair At this time we do not have any updates on how the Larimer County Fair will be affectedor if it will be cancelled This decision is made by numerous individuals and any definitivedecisions have not been made yet As we know more we will let you all know

General Project Workshops and Orientations We are working fervently to identify ways to continue offering workshops for all projectareas Please know that many project leaders have reached out to us and we are allworking on providing them with guidance As soon as we have solid plans made for eachproject area we will be sure to email those members enrolled Please check your emailregularly for updates

Animal Purchases for ProjectsPurchasing of any animal for a 4-H project is as always up to the familys discretionThere is no guarantee that there will be a place for that animal to be shown or soldWhether that be at the Larimer County Fair Larimer County Junior Livestock Sale orotherwise I would like to remind you all that this is always the case as it can never beguaranteed these types of events will happen

Shooting Sports We are aware of the strain these closures are causing in regard to orientation practicesand hunters safety education requirements We are working to identify ways to adjustrequirements so that we can still ensure our members are safe and able to complete theirprojects Members in the 4-H Shooting Sports project do have the option to practice ontheir own time with their own equipment and ammunition if they choose to Just as beforethough if you choose to do this it WILL NOT count as a county practice and will not counttoward the 4 minimum practice requirements Again we are evaluating policies and willrelease more information on project policies for this year at a later date
