“Celebrating the never ending tradition of Oregon State Ath-letics by continuing to honor its past, educate its present,

and prepare for its future; while connecting all who have

contributed to its legacy.”

In the spirit of camaraderie, Oregon State University’s Varsity OSU Association is dedicated to upholding the long tradition of athletic and academic excellence at Or-egon State. Varsity OSU serves its membership by en-hancing relationships among alumni letter-winners, cur-rent student-athletes, and current and former coaches and administrators.

The #DamWorthIt Campaign was started this summer to bring awareness to mental health issues involv-ing student-athletes. The program was spear-headed by for-mer Oregon State gymnast Taylor Ricci, along with cur-rent men’s soccer player Nathan Braaten.

The #DamWorthIt Campaign has already received na-tional attention as both Ricci and Braaten have been selected to attend the NCAA APPLE Conference in San Diego. The Conference is an annual three-day national training institute dedicated to substance abuse preven-tion and health promotion of student-athletes.

Initiated in 2011, Beavers without Borders is a pro-gram that offers global ser-vice-learning experiences for student-athletes at Oregon State University.

The program has success-fully completed eight service projects including trips to Gua-temala, Macedonia, Ethiopia, Costa Rica and most recently the Dominican Republic.

Throughout those trips, over 100 student-athletes were able to experience life in a distinct culture, learn about the impact of their work on a community and interact outside of the university context to maximize the intercultural ex-perience.

This year marked the first time in the program’s history that Oregon State Athletics has sponsored two Beavers Without Borders trips. In June, 21 athletes made the trip to Costa Rica, with another 10 heading to the Dominican Republic in August. The full list is below:
