Contradict the results of the City’s impression that recycling is not desired by the population… it is overwelmingly supported

Confirms the results of a study done in the 90’s that Regional District residents still want recycling.

Infers public is done with studies and wants action

Empowers the RD to establish and implement an inclusive recycling program

Means we can put $ for new landfill towards recycling facilities and do the job well..

Forum Participants:   Dr.Alex Lautensach - Assistant

Professor at UNBC with a PhD in Teaching and Environmental Ethics.

Ian Maxwell - Retired Engineer.   Roger Tooms - Manager of

Works and Services with the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine.

Dr. Catharine White - College Professor at NWCC with a PhD in Biology.

Overwelming focus on recycling and diversion and desire to use Thornhill Landfill for remaining waste

See no need for new landfill.
