Lackland ISD E-News A Day of Flight Page 4 of 12 www.lacklandisd.net May 25, 2012
A day of flight The 6th graders spent Thursday exploring the scientific process. Students
gathered information from the Discovery Education website, discussed
possible designs, hypothesized about what would make a paper plane fly the
farthest, created fling devices, tested their design, made changes, and then
had a friendly competition to see which plane went the farthest. What form
would the thrower use? Should the wings be short and wide or long and thin?
Would a paper clip on the nose make it fly better? After testing the planes the
students wrote their conclusions on what the best building design and what
they would do differently next time. Stop by our bulletin and see what we
concluded.
What do you think is the best way to build a paper airplane?

Did you know that when you cough, your vocal cords slam together at 70 miles per hour? Like we care for our bodies, we should take time to care for our vocal cords. Good vocal care includes:
Drinking plenty of water
Getting more sleep
Not drinking so much caffeine.
We have only one voice. Use it wisely! Patricia L. Brown
