The victory, televised Wednesday on ESPN2, was Malott’s fifth consecutive as he swept the King of Bowling series, earning a grand total of $50,000. In successive weeks, Malott defeated Chris Barnes of Double Oak, Texas, 268- 214; Patrick Allen of Wesley Chapel, Fla., 258-234; Walter Ray Williams Jr. of Ocala, Fla., 300-238, and Rhino Page of Topeka, Kan., 257-233, be- fore rolling his second perfect game against Bohn. Every Friday at 2pm

RENO, Nev. - Emma Hen-drickson, the 100-year-old bowler from Morris Plains, N.J., who became the oldest participant in the history of the United States Bowling Con-gress Women’s Champion-ships last month, put her bowl-ing skills to the test against television personality Regis Philbin.

Philbin challenged Hen-drickson to a bowling com-petition after her milestone appearance at the National Bowling Stadium on April 18 became national news and landed her on ESPN Top 10 Plays and ESPNEWS.

The Philbin-Hendrickson match was taped at AMF’s 300 NY in the Chelsea Piers Center in New York on May 14 and was shown on “Live! With Regis and Kelly” this Friday morning, May 22. The episode will be available on the show’s Web site.

Although the results were kept a secret until the show aired, the contest was the sub-ject of numerous ongoing jokes and comments by Philbin and his co-host, Kelly Ripa.

“I had a lot of fun doing the show,” said Hendrickson, who competed in the USBC Women’s Championships for the 50th consecutive year. “I have been on TV before for interviews, but not as part of this type of activity. Regis seemed very concerned about my health, and kept asking me if I was OK. I guess he didn’t want me to throw the ball and go down with it.”

Hendrickson said Philbin spent time clowning around and faking pulled muscles, claiming it had been many years since he had bowled - all as an excuse for his lack of bowling prowess.

The media frenzy sur-rounding Hendrickson’s ac-complishment started in Reno when local news crews were on hand to see her break the record she shared with Ethel Brunnick of Santa Monica, Calif. Brunnick was 99 years old when she competed in the

Women’s Championships in 1987.

The excitement hasn’t died down, and Hendrickson cur-rently is working on a photo shoot with British and Austra-lian newspapers for upcoming features. She also has been invited to serve as the bowl-ing spokesperson at the New Jersey Senior Olympics being held in Woodbridge, N.J., in September. There also have been offers to appear on “El-len,” “Good Morning Ameri-ca” and “The Tonight Show,” according to Hendrickson’s family. “I don’t really feel any different, but I do get a kick out of it,” said Hendrickson, who already is signed up for the 2010 Women’s Champi-onships in El Paso, Texas. “It seems like everybody is talk-ing about it here, and I am even hearing from people who are asking for my autograph.”

WEST COVINA—Jinny Lei was the best last weekend as the Pretty lady won her first ABTA Title in fine style finally downing upstart Joe Poole the house favorite, at West Covina Lanes to take home a sweet $9,350 topping 652 entrants. Jinny was best in the Semis and won from the top seeded position.

This event had semi tough scoring conditions each day in the four day event making it very fair for our members.

This event saw much ac-tion and great payoffs for our members as the Match Game, Match Series and Big Shot pot were hit. There were some nice drawings also.

Due to the nice turnout. 136 bowlers made the semis from each separate qualifying day and the Re Entry squad and would bowl three games in hopes of making the top 32 singe elim finals

Leading the semis was ABTA regular Jinny Lei at a big +123. She would sit out and bowl for the title. Runner up was Sang Chul Won +114 and would receive a first round bye entering the roll off in round two. It took a good +23 for the men and -4 for the 7 guaranteed ladies to make the top 32 Single Elim Finals.

The roll off was on and los-ers of round one got checks of $210 in 18-32nd place. Round two losers were Danny Gue-

varra, Jamescart Alarcio, Ani-ta Smith, Greg Velarde, James Samson, Phil Sujo, “Ace” Cordero, and Ted Villaroman. They got $225 finishing in 10-18th.

Round 3 had Fred Go, Samson Kong,Danny Reece Jr. and Gibin Kim lose out and they got $400 for finishing in 6-9th places.

Round 4 had J.R. DeGuz-man fall to Joe Poole 233-186, and Luciano Bruzzoni send Sang Chul Won 221-204 so Sang and J.R. bowled very well and got rewarded at $800 each for finishing 4th and 5th with Luciano and Joe to meet for the right to bowl Jinny for the title.

In this match Poole edged Luciano in a good match 221-211. He was off to the title and Luciano bowled very well 3rd place finish.

The title game Jinny Lei vs Joe Poole was on for the big Bucks.

The match game of $3,500 and a 195 game was shared by 3 of our finest. Michael Kong, Jaime Sulit and Greg Neuer who had it twice so he gets $1,750. Michael and Jaime $875 each. Greg knows when to bowl a 195 game :-) Con-grats! There is a carryover of $210 so we estimate the Match Game to be $1,750 at Mission Hills Saturday.

Match Series was hit at 440 by three fine people Jaffrey

Sargent, Alejandro Vela, and Jo Jo Diaz. They shared a re-cord $4,392 and $1,464 each. That is for a $2.00 pot folks.

The 3-6-9 was not hit but Danny Guevarra for a consola-tion of $50 for beer money and the pot goes for $900 Saturday at Mission Hills.

The Optional doubles were topped by Minh Dang and/ Som Seng 1,392 and $230. John Feitz, and Ping Romero 2nd 1,377 $210. James Alar-cio and Ace Cordero 3rd and $200. We paid Jun Contreras, and Je Je Gabriel 1421,and $220. Je Je also teamed with Jeff Taino in 2nd place $200. We paid 27 places and $2,316 in the doubles

PBA Tour Introduces PBA World Series of Bowling

to Debut in AugustSEATTLE—A new era in the Professional Bowlers Associa-

tion will begin next season with the creation of the Lumber Liq-uidators PBA Tour World Series of Bowling.

The Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour, currently celebrating its 50th Anniversary, announced the creation of the series today which will offer more than $2 million in prize money and will take place from Aug. 1-Sept. 7, 2009 in Detroit.

The kickoff PBA Motor City Open will take place at long-time PBA host center Taylor Lanes in Taylor, Mich., from Aug. 1-6. The remainder of the World Series of Bowling, including six exempt PBA Tour events, the return of the PBA Women’s Se-ries presented by USBC and a revamped PBA Senior Tour World Championship will be held at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich., just outside Detroit. The World Series of Bowling will culminate with the PBA World Championship open field event, the first major championship of the 2009-2010 season.

The PBA World Series of Bowling will mark the first time the PBA Tour will spend an extended period of time in one city. The event figures to be a financial boon for Detroit with hun-dreds of competitive bowlers from around the world, including the exempt PBA Tour stars such as Walter Ray Williams Jr., Pete Weber and reigning player of the year Chris Barnes expected to participate. Seven PBA Tour bowling telecasts emanating from the World Series will air on ESPN, bringing further exposure to the city of Detroit.

“The World Series builds on the proud tradition of the Lum-ber Liquidators PBA Tour being the standard in professional bowling worldwide,” said PBA Tour CEO and Commissioner Fred Schreyer. “Detroit will be host to the greatest festival of competitive bowling in history.”

Detroit boasts more USBC certified bowlers than any oth-er city in the U.S. Main host Thunderbowl Lanes is a 90-lane bowling center featuring a unique arena setup for the taping of the ESPN telecasts and continuous online coverage on the PBA Tour’s live streaming video service Xtra Frame on pba.com.

“We are thrilled to host this revolutionary month in PBA Tour history,” said Thunderbowl Lanes owner Tom Strobl. “Detroit’s passionate bowling fans are in for a treat.”

The seven PBA championship events with dedicated telecasts will be taped at the conclusion of the World Series and air out over what has traditionally been the first half of the PBA Tour season from mid-October to early December 2009, Sunday af-ternoons on ESPN. The first half of the season on ESPN will conclude with the live finals of the PBA World Championship on Dec. 13, featuring the four finalists decided in early September at the World Series.

The January-April second half of the PBA Tour season will be similar to the current Tour makeup, featuring live Sunday tele-casts. The Tour will travel to at least 10 cities across the country for events, including three major championships (USBC Mas-ters, PBA Tournament of Champions and concluding the regular season with the U.S. Open).

Tournament fields for the PBA Tour World Series will be increased from 64 to 72 players. Along with the 58 exempt play-ers, international exemptions will be introduced and at least 10 tournament qualifying round positions will be available to win per event in Detroit.

The PBA Women’s Series presented by USBC returns with seven events for the 2009-2010 PBA Tour season. Six will take place at the World Series, including all the PBA “animal pattern” championships and a newly created open-field PBA Women’s Series World Championship. The field size for the Women’s Se-ries events will improve from 16 to 20 bowlers for each exempt event, and for the first time two TQR spots will be up for grabs for each women’s event at the World Series.

The PBA Senior World Championship makes its return to the PBA schedule during the World Series. The championship match of the Senior World Championship will be televised, once again bringing senior tour bowling to ESPN.

While the PBA World Series of Bowling includes the great-est bowlers in the world and the ESPN shows are the centerpiece events, there will also be something for every competitive bowler in the form of side events with diverse formats. Some of the side events and sweepers, which will all be conducted by the PBA, will not include exempt PBA Tour pros.

“The message for now to all PBA members and competitive bowlers from the Midwestern U.S. to Malaysia is this,” Schreyer said. “Save August 2009 on your calendar and start practicing.”

Further details will be released on the PBA World Series of Bowling and the 2009-10 Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour season regularly. Stay tuned to pba.com.

The Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour airs the live finals of the Etonic Marathon Open from Indianapolis this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN.

It’s #2 For P2!SAN DIEGO—The NABI

San Diego tournament ac-tion was at Mira Mesa Lanes this past week, & Paul Pho-unsavath earned his second NABI championship when he emerged on top in the elimina-tor style finals. Bowling all weekend on one of the PBA Experience shots gave the bowlers a chance to improve their skills, & the bowlers that met the challenge soon learned that spare shooting was the key to success. All matches in the finals were close, so a missed easy spare meant the differ-ence between being eliminated or moving on. Paul remained consistent in all three matches, & was rewarded with $1500 for his effort. Second place & $750 went to Phil Horn. Fin-ishing 3rd & 4th were Mike Tangonan & Chad Hill, & 5th through 8th went to Mike Yel-len, James Rostello, Paul Wil-ley, Jr. & Ron Tanja,

All squads featured guar-anteed $50 sidepots each qualifying game, so Jim Nun-nally, Norm Rauch, Jeff Greer, Harold Weisbecker, Sue Greer, Troy Thompson (2), Marissa de Luna, Fred Hutto, Jonny Long, Phil Horn, Mike Yel-len (3), Paul Willey (2) & Paul Phounsavath (2) each went home with some extra cash.

Two of the perpetual pots were hit for $150 each…9 in a row by Paul Phounsavath & the 3-6-9 by Paul Willey.

Bowlers want to share their gratitude to John & his staff at Mira Mesa for provid-ing the PBA condition, as it was a great “warm up” for the

upcoming NABI Week 2009 Tournament in Las Vegas this July. Thank you again, John!

The next NABI tournament will be June 6th at Kearny Mesa Bowl. Details will be included in the next edition of the Bowling News. See you on the 6th…. we’ll save a cookie for you!

Flags June 11-14. “Winning five in a row against

the guys I had to bowl?” Malott reflected. “I just worried about my game and made the most of it. I had some luck – good and bad – along the way.

“But that’s behind me. I’ve moved on to the future, and oh my god, to be in the position I’m at now? I’ve had some pretty good success this early in my career. I’m blessed and I hope I can keep it going.”

In honor of Malott’s dominat-ing performance in the King Of Bowling tournament Roto Grip is happy to extend a 25% off op-portunity at Rotogear, the official apparal site of Roto Grip. In order to take advantage of the discount enter the code “kingwes25” at checkout.

California Bowler Capitalized on Second Chance at USBC Open ChampionshipsLAS VEGAS—During his

United States Bowling Con-gress Open Championships debut in 1998, Michael Burns of El Cajon, Calif., started a game with eight consecutive strikes before a 10 pin ended his run at perfection.

Another bowler on the same squad matched him strike-for-strike through eight frames and went on to roll one of 17 perfect games that year at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev. Burns never for-got that experience and even talked about it recently with his teammates.

On Monday, Burns got a second chance at perfection on bowling’s biggest stage and finished it off for the 23rd 300 game of the 2009 USBC Open Championships.

“After I got the ninth one, things started getting a little shaky, and by the 12th shot, my knees were definitely knock-ing,” said Burns, who made his 11th Open Championships appearance. “To me, it’s very rewarding to be able to throw an award score at an event like this. Bowling is a very hum-bling game, so to be able to do this is the best part.”

Burns’ 300 came between games of 182 and 177 on the way to a 659 series and 1,199

doubles effort. He added 584 in singles and 552 in team for a career-best 1,795 all-events total. His previous high all-events showing was 1,672 at the 2006 tournament in Cor-pus Christi, Texas.

“I’ve been bowling for 29 years, and I’ve learned you just have to go through the same routine and stay consis-tent with your shots,” Burns said. “My dad always used to remind me that once you let go of the ball, you have no control over what happens next, but if you’re making good shots, good things will happen.”

Sometime during last year’s event in Albuquerque, N.M., Burns realized that his plan of attack for playing the lanes at the Open Championships had been wrong all along. He felt he’d been overthrowing the ball, so he decided to play a little further inside and more direct to the pocket. Every-thing seemed to click at that point, and the same strategy paid off at Cashman Center on Monday.

Burns does admit, how-ever, that his biggest challenge at the Open Championships is spare shooting. Because he typically hooks the ball at his spares, he sometimes struggles on the unfamiliar Sport Bowl-

ing lane conditions at the tour-nament. Fortunately, when you’re locked in and striking, you don’t have to worry about spares.

“I got myself in a little bit of trouble by hooking the ball at my spares, but for one game, I didn’t have to worry about it,” Burns said. “My whole goal coming in was just to make good shots. I reminded myself not to be lazy and to make sure to push the ball down the lane. If there’s a place to shoot 300, this is it.”

LAS VEGAS—The July Mini-Eliminator at The South Point in Las Vegas has created a way for bowlers to be guaranteed $3,000 for making the finals and be only 1 match away from the $35,000 Champion Shootout. A Super Bye will be awarded to one bowler from each division; 49 and under, 50+, and bowlers with a 205 and under average. The Super Byes will be won by the bowler shooting the highest series after they have qualified for the finals and re-entered.

Bowlers entering the earlier squads will have the greatest chance at earning a Super Bye. Although re-entries are normally $180, anyone making the finals and re-entering to earn a Super Bye will get $50 off all of their re-entries. Also, if a bowler pur-chased the Super Marathon entry, which gives you 5 qualifying squads, and qualifies for the finals on one of their first four en-tries, they can bowl for the Super Bye for FREE until they use up all of their entries.

The 13th annual Mini-Eliminator is being held Tuesday, June 30 through Saturday, July 4, 2009 and includes 16 qualify-ing squads and 3 early bird events. The top 6 prizes are guaran-teed regardless of entries including $20,000-1st , $10,000-2nd, $5,000-3rd and $3,000 for 4th through 6th place. Ten Pin Hootenannyby Alice Bradford

Tonight’s the night, this is the place.Everybody is happy — big smile on the face.Short ones, and some really tall.Curly or straight...or no hair at all. Each one feeling like a kid again. Each one certain the Trophy they’ll win.Big balls, small balls and some in between.Red balls, black balls...yep...some even greenThey gather in groups...laughing and chatting awayAs they plot the course they intend to play. The place is beginning to come alive. You might even say...IT’S STARTING TO JIVE!!!After a while the battle begins. No more kidding around...each team wants to win.Soon the pins are all in place...the first ball rolls.Straight as an arrow down the lane it goes.Smash! Bam!! The pins go down.Oh...what a wonderful sound.Suddenly, somewhere...down the lanes...a sharp cry resounds.....HEY!!! LOOK OUT!!! THE BALL BOUNCED OUT OF BOUNDS!!!!“IT SLIPPED!!!” He say, as his face turns red.OH YEAH...I BET...” someone else has said. All up and down the place that night,The sounds of balls rolling and pins knocked out of sight.Cries of delight...moans of pain...As someone mutters, “I’ll never try this!!...again”.Slaps on the back, a warm hug or two...Encouraging...relating...as good friends do.The games are over— just one team wins. But the memories remain of being with friends,No matter the age, the spirit is there...Loving, caring, each moment to share.Oh, we may be getting up there is years.Don’t move as fast as we used to do...But if you’re ever in the mood to be surrounded by friends...This one thing, I’ve found to be true...THE TEN PIN HOOTENANNY is the place for you.

National Deaf Bowling NewsMalucci Ends With Deaf Record 246 Average For 84 Games At Red Rock

by Connie Marchione LAS VEGAS — The remarkable deaf (actually hearing-im-paired) lefthander Carl Malucci finished his league in Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas with a 780 series on the season finale for a deaf record average of 246 for 84 games. That beats the old deaf record of 240 made by Ken DeGroff in a Reading, PA league in 2005 but it is not even in the top 5 for the nation in USBC records. During his drive in making his record average, Malucci had an incredible run of 17 consecutive 700 for the new USBC record replacing the old one, which was 16. Additionally, his drive includes his 41st career 300, a 299 which is his career 19th and an 811 which also is his career 19th. His team, Team Nation (Melchora Lee, Joey Harris, Barrett Lee and himself) set two deaf team records for mixed three men and a woman team 974 game and 2745 series. The oddity of his 811 was the two opens in it, a missed 7 pin spare and a wide split in the 10th frame which he did not covert. I read that in order to get an 800, you must make at least 29 strikes out of possible 36. I counted the strikes in his 268-278-265 games and yes, there were 29 strikes in it. In the month of April, Malucci bowled in two major tourna-ments, one hearing USBC Open Championships in Las Vegas and one deaf Great Lakes Deaf Bowling Association 73rd an-nual in Cleveland. In the first one, he admitted not doing well, struggling in the team and doubles events and then in the singles event he changed balls and made an adjustment to finish with a respectable 668. In the GLDBA which considers itself as the deaf USBC tour-nament, Malucci said that he came in 7th in trying to defend his Masters title which he won in last year’s tournament at Columbus, Ohio. He had qualified way down the list and in the next round pulled himself up to finish in 7th. In the other events, he shot 2108 all-events with series of 678-700-730. At present Malucci is joining a summer PBA Experience League at Suncoast Bowling Center that he is looking forward to see how he does in it.Malucci 2108 Tops All-Events, Overrated

Bowlers Hit 3345 In GLDBA Tourney MISSION HILLS — Ken DeGroff stopped by Mission Hills Bowl to see me while I bowled in the Tuesday Seniors summer league there with the news and results of the Great Lakes Deaf Tournament. Ken admitted bowling badly; bowled on Carl Malucci’s team there, which finished in 3rd place with 3199 actual pinfall, but he did better in doubles and singles. Also, Ken said that there were so many 700s bowled in that Cleveland tournament, showing me the list with 7 each in the team and singles events and four in doubles. With that many 700s, I told Ken that Carl Malucci was unsure of where his 2108 placed in the all-events. But the list showed Malucci in actual all-events first place, which is a surprise. Likewise, Ken showed that his old team Overrated Bowlers, which he left when he moved to California, did better without him with 3345, three pins short of the record 3348 made by the Detroit deaf team, Always Pocket 1-3 two years ago. In second place was another Detroit team, Smashin’ Pins with 3202. Thanks Ken for the news and results. The article will be in next week if I get more details from GLDBA secretary-treasurer Mike Jasko. Ken also told me the website to contact the other eastern deaf tournament, Eastern Association of Deaf Bowlers is EADB/EADWBA.com which I will contact for another article.

JAT: Champion Jeremy Glover and 2nd Devin Bidwell

by David Yamauchi

Glover Is The JAT Invitational ChampionCongratulations to Jeremy Glover on taking the JAT Invita-

tional title last event at Jewel City Bowl. The event was high-lighted by a 4-game seeding round followed by a double-elimina-tion bracket with two-game total-pins matches on the top bracket and single-game elimination matches in the loser’s bracket. Jer-emy attacked the double-elimination format by qualifying third then going undefeated capped by besting loser’s bracket finalist Devin Bidwell 487-386 in the two-game total-pins match. Con-gratulations Jeremy on some fantastic bowling and a JAT major title!

Tournament of Non-Champs This SundayThe JAT will bowl its annual (an possibly last) Tournament

JAT Farm Clubby David Gordon

GLENDALE – Here is the latest from the JAT Farm Club, where our last event on May 17th, was our special Invitational tournament. This is the tournament that all the bowlers are gath-ering JAT points throughout the season in hopes of being eli-gible for this event. This year I took the top 24 bowlers available and put them in to a grueling 12 straight match play format. No qualifying and no finals, just 12 games (with bonus for a win) total score wins.

This tournament was held at Jewel City Bowl which proudly accommodate our needs and even more proudly displayed the center’s recent renovations. To many, the grand changes was like stepping into a brand new bowling center. Also, with JAT alumni (Alyse and Brandon McGinnis) taking the lead on setting up our event, they made sure that the shot was just right for the JAT and accommodations were nearly perfect. Thank you.

There were not that many reportable high scores for the Farm Club, but the group still had a 180 average for the entire field. High games for the first six games came in from Brandon Pekins 237, Brian Hernandez 220-235, Noel Sosa 233, Godfrey Galsim 224, and Robert Kojima 224. At the half way point, the leader came in at plus 157 and stayed plus through the top ten coming in at plus 19.

The scores got a little better for the second half of the tour-nament, as the oil evened out and the bowlers got more use to relying on their spare game. Stevn Roderick posted up our tour-nament high game with a 279. Other highs included Sosa 264, Nicole Shepard 244, Christian Hernandez 228, Gary Smith 223, and B. Hernandez 222. At the position game it was down to two bowlers, Galsim (+303) and Sosa (+254). With only 49 points separating the two, mistakes could not be afforded. In the twelve and final match play game and 30 bonus points on the line, Sosa dialed in for a 196 score to win the match. However, Galsim did just what was needed, by staying close enough with a 187 game to hold his slim lead and capture his first JAT Farm Club title by a mere 10 pins. Congratulations Godfrey.

Our next event is this coming Sunday at AMF Rocket Lanes in Chatsworth. This is our Tournament of Non-Champions and is the last event of the season to try to capture that elusive title. Check-in begins at 8:15 as normal with the cost still holding at $35. We have quite a number of bowlers without a title and I expect to see most of you out there. Also, those Farm Club mem-bers with a title, can bowl in the Open division’s event to show their true Farm Club stuff. Come one - Come all! I’ll see you on Sunday.

Jewel City Bowl - May 17th, 2009 (L—R): Brian Hernandez – 3rd; Godfrey Galsim – 1st; Noel Sosa – 2nd.

Jr. Elims at Keystone LanesHair Goes Back to Back Perfect

by David GordonNORWALK – This past Saturday marked our third session of

the nine session summer program of the Jr. Elims, here at Key-stone Lanes. We added six more bowlers to the group and the 2-person teams are being finalized. To add to this excitement, I am very proud to announce a special feat accomplished by Char-lie Hair. Charlie gave us all a thrill with a perfect 300 in game one of the 4-game session. And for those that missed it, Charlie did it again in game two. Back to Back perfect 300 games. Con-gratulations Charlie on a feat that even the best bowlers (juniors/adults/pros) can only dream of. Charlie then continued his domi-nance of the conditions with a third game 237, giving him an 837 three game set and then went 259 for a 1096 session. Way to go Charlie and not bad for an hour and a half of work.

This was also the most fitting time to accomplish this amaz-ing feat, as Keystone Lanes was completely full, hosting a Senior No-Tap event on one side of the house and an Adult/Jr. No-Tap event on the other side of the house. Needless to say, my an-nouncements of Charlie’s games were not limited to just our six lanes and soon we had a gallery on on-lookers watching the ac-tion.

And the other bowlers did not let the crowd down as Kevin Jones posted up 220-213-246-211/890, Brandyn Roque had 227-205/817, Kim Ferdnance with 201-202-212/802, and Emilio Cruz went 202-203-233/788. Bowling scores like these with behavior that I demand of these bowlers, led to compliments throughout the entire four hours I was there. You all have made me very proud.

This Saturday we have a double session starting at 1:00 pm. That’s eight games for the group in an effort to have a schedule that can accommodate all of the summer’s interruptions. Those on hand also chose to allow new members one more chance to join this coming week only. This is the last chance to get in on this action and a special session has been added at 12:00 noon, for those wanting to join and get in a make-up set. I’ll be there at noon with four lanes, waiting to get you new bowlers registered and under way. We need (at minimum) another three bowlers to complete a field of eight teams.

Don’t let the summer or Keystone conditions get away from you. There is much to your game of bowling that can be worked on in preparation for the summer tournaments and up-coming winter season. From lower averages all the way up to Char-lie, each and every bowler can get something good out of this program. For more information, please contact David Gordon at 310-665-9536, email: [email protected], or just come on by. I hope to see a lot more new faces out here this Saturday. For all others, get plenty of rest and a good week. I’ll see you at Keystone Lanes.

Fast Times at Linbrook Bowl Make For Hot Scores in Rocky Marsh Doubles

by Joy McGregorThe Rocky Marsh Doubles is 26 teams strong this sea-

son and started the first session Friday the 22nd by turning up the heat and setting the bar high!!

Easy-going lefty, E.J. Rogers earned the “Crown” this week on games of 228-258-263 for 749 and added 207 to claim high series honors at 956. Superior bowing E.J., your crown suits you well!

Alan Bloom started his summer in fine fashion by plant-ing his ball on just the right groove and watched all those srikes come to life on games of 258-235-222 for 715 and added 208 to grow a 923. Very nice showing Alan!

Not to be outshined by the guys, Rose Williams decided to come to the party after her slow 162 start and a “tiny” bit of adjusting by tossing a 233 and, wow, a 289 game and then added a 237 to post a fine 921. You rock, Rose!

Dapper Terry Brent burned some wood and showed his maple moxy as he stroked 228-233-248 for 709 and added 205 to score 914. Way to go partner!

Tim Blough had all his ducks in a row and polished off the pins with on target games of 218-256-225 and 211 to finish the day at 910. Pretty straight shootin’ Tim!

Janine Ditch stepped up to the plate and threw plenty of strikes on games of 236-268-213 for 717 and added 191 to catch a fine 908. Good outing Janine!
