Thank you for your contributions to our Sunday Offertory and your continued generosity to provide monetary support to individuals and families in need through our Charity and Food Shelf Funds. We are grateful to those of you who have answered the call to provide gift cards for gas and food that we are able to distribute to those in need.

Online giving is a convenient, safe and secure method to financially support the ministries of St. Odilia and our ex-tended community. If you would like to make an online gift either by credit card or check, visit our website at www.stodilia.org and click on the “Give Online” tab, or use your phone’s camera to scan the QR Code for secure online giving. On May 23, 2020, Governor Walz issued a new executive order that allows faith communities to accommodate up to 250 people for worship services, provided precautions are taken to protect public health. The full letter from Archbishop Hebda regarding this new executive order can be found on the homepage of our website.

The worship team, our priests, and staff have been work-ing together to formulate a plan to resume public Mass aligned with the “Phase II” guidelines and strict protocols for sanitation and social distancing that have been estab-lished by the Archdiocese and the Minnesota Department of Health. Masks for those in attendance will be required.

We will continue to live stream both our daily and Sunday Mass for those people who are unable to attend Mass due to seating limitations, health concerns, or personal choice. Those who are 65 and older and/or who have un-derlying health conditions are strongly encouraged to take part in our livestreamed Mass and participate in spir-itual communion. (Please note that Archbishop Hebda has continued his suspension of the Sunday obligation for all Catholics at this time.)

Attendance at all public Masses will be limited to 25% of our total seating capacity or less and ushers will assist with seating. We are developing new procedures for the reception of the Eucharist aligned with safe social distanc-ing. More information on how you will be able to sign-up to attend Mass in person along with other detailed guide-lines are forthcoming.

We ask for your prayers and patience as we continue to develop our plan and train our Hospitality Ministers to allow us to safely return to the public celebration of both our daily and Sunday Mass.

We intend to keep you informed via our weekly e-News and notices on the announcement page of our website as we continue to prepare for a return to limited public Mass beginning on June 1, 2020.

Join the Parish Leadership Council or any of our Nine Ministry Area Councils

In gratitude for the gifts you have been given, consider serv-ant leadership as a member of one of our St. Odilia Ministry Area Councils. The organizational structure of the council is based on a strong lay-leadership component that recognizes the gifts that our parishioners bring to our community.

Consensus decision-making is supported by participation in open and respectful dialogue at all levels of leadership. The principle of subsidiarity is incorporated into the nine Minis-try Area Councils and the overarching Parish Leadership Council (PLC) that functions in partnership with staff to develop policies and programming that support the parish mission.

At the heart of the structure is the process of collaboration between and among the Ministry Area Councils and the PLC. The PLC is the leadership group that coordinates and re-views the activities of the nine Ministry Area Councils and is responsible for policies and procedures of a parish-wide scope. A representative of each MAC is appointed to serve as a member of the PLC. This process is supported by the design and intentionality of the monthly meeting format that incorporates both prayer and sharing of ideas prior to the council meetings.

2020-2021 Open Council Positions Our normal process to discern new members in May has been delayed due to our limitations to gather in person. Although we can’t be together physically, we invite you to consider a leadership position for yourself, or for a fellow parishioner.

At this time, we are specifically seeking nominations for the role of PLC-At-Large Representative. The PLC-At-Large Rep serves on both the PLC Executive Committee with the pastor, administrator and trustees and is a member of the Parish Leadership Council (PLC) for a three-year term, serving as the chair of the PLC in the third year of the term. You can express your interest, or nominate someone by completing the council nomination form on our parish web-site:

www.stodilia.org > Our Parish > Ministry Area Councils > Council Nominations and select ‘Parish Leadership Council (At-Large-Representative)’ as the choice.

Nominate yourself or someone you recommend for Parish Leadership. Nominations for the role of PLC-At-Large Rep will be accepted through June 30, 2020. We plan to begin the process of discernment for our nine (9) Ministry Area Councils later this summer when we anticipate that we will be able to gather again. We look forward to hearing from you!

Meals on Wheels Drivers Needed! We’re asking for additional help in this difficult time. Our staff has created safe conditions in

which to bring hot, delicious meals to our clients. Please call Barry at 612-670-0632.

Need Prayer? St. Odilia Prayer Line is Confidential

If for any reason, you wish to be prayed for, feel free to add your prayer request to our confidential Prayer Line. We have a dedicated group of parishioners who will hold you up in prayer. We only use first names. There are several ways to can submit a prayer request: 1) You can use our Prayer Request Form on the homepage of our website ww.stodilia.org, 2) Email your request to: [email protected]

3) Call the parish office at 651-484-6681

Reach out to those you know...

Please continue to reflect on who, in your circle of acquaintances at St. Odilia, are the people you have not seen in a while. Who used to sit next to you - or near you at church? Maybe look through your old picto-rial directory and be reminded of some of our other parishioners. Give them a call, write an email, send them a card or a note, “Thinking or Praying for you”.

Take the opportunity to connect with each other during these “stay at home” days. Not only will you brighten the day of someone, but your day will be brighter too. Use the Gifts that the Holy Spirit has given you and share them with those who could use a kind word and a prayer. Continue to take care of each other and continue to pray as we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit!

And know that all of you continue to be in all of our prayers. Have a Blessed Pentecost! ~The Pastoral Care Council

Your Donations to our Food Shelf and Charity Funds are Greatly Appreciated!

A humble and gracious THANK YOU to all of you who have responded to the needs of so many of our parishioners and community members. You have been so generous in helping replenish the gift cards which we collect in Advent via the Sharing Tree. For the last 10 years our Sharing Tree gift cards would last us through to the next Advent. This year we depleted our supply of gift cards to almost nothing by the end of April. And a few of you have even given part, or in some cases, all of your stimulus money to either the Charity Fund, the Food Shelf Fund or to the Sunday Fund to allow us to continue our ministry support! In gratitude for your generosity to our Food Shelf collection at the begin-ning of April, we were able to make a $5,000 donation to the Ralph Reed-er Food Shelf. Your continued generosity in April and May allowed us to make an additional gift of $8,000 on May 27, 2020. The need is still great for many so any help continues to be greatly appre-ciated. We especially appreciate your continued prayers for each other as we journey through these challenging times. Again, THANK YOU for all that you do for each other, for your families, for your community and for St. Odilia Church. Be safe, be strong, be good and Be Blessed, ~The Pastoral Care Council

El Espíritu Santo hizo es-to.”

©LPi

Nunca Estamos Solos Mis hijos quieren mi ayuda a veces, y otras veces, no tanto.

Stewardship

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS We Are Never Alone

My children want my help sometimes, and other times, not so much. I remember being a teenager and young adult my-self. At times, I thought I knew everything. I didn’t need help because I was just so darn smart. Truth is, I needed to find my own way. I needed to stretch my wings and prove to myself and my family I could fly. I assume that is what is happen-ing with my own children as well. It just seems so different now that I’m the parent. Human beings need help. We need community, and we need to rely on one another. At Pentecost, we reflect on Jesus sending to the Church a helper, the Holy Spirit. God interacting with us in this manner means we are never truly alone. We focus most of the time on the Spirit of God as the assistance we need, and we do need Him for sure. However, since it is that very same Spirit that turned us into “Church” from a band of people looking to carry on after Jesus’ ascension, at Pentecost we gained more than divine help: we gained each other. Today, the Church needs help in a profound way. We need to lean on the Holy Spirit to blow through the Church with a profound renewal. But we cannot forget that we have been given each other to lean on as well. We are a gift to each other, and together with the Spirit’s help, we are the Body of Christ here on earth. We must be strong and stand for one anoth-er. If we do that, this Pentecost will bear fruit that will be with us for many Pentecosts to come. —Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS ©LPi
