May – June 2016 West Olympia Rotary Programs May 17, 2016 Capital & Avanti HS Students Scholarships Every year one of our greatest endeavors is to encourage and select individuals to support in their educational pursuits. The West Olympia Rotary scholarship winners from Capital and Avanti High Schools and their parents will be our guests at our meeting. Our own member Shelby Hentges will preside. May 24, 2016 Ken Balsley - Lacey Turns 50! Former Rotary District Governor Ken Balsley will talk about how our neighboring city of Lacey is planning to celebrate its 50th birthday. Ken has a great sense of humor and has been a tireless advocate for Rotary and it’s progress in Thurston County. Don’t forget to invites guests to join us. May 31, 2016 Joint Meeting with Olympia Kiwanis To be announced. Our friends with the Olympia Kiwanis Club will be meeting with us following the Memorial Day Holiday. They'll also be bringing the program, which will be announced soon. Debra Seeman, the new Kiwanis Club President, will chair the meeting. Come early, because the house is often full for these combined meetings. A great meeting to invite guests to join you! June 07, 2016 Kyle Cronk - Leading the YMCA There are many benefits of belonging to the YMCA! This is your chance to meet the new director of South Sound YMCA, Kyle Cronk. He oversees both the Downtown Olympia and the Briggs YMCA's. He'll be introduced today by club member Neil Woody who is on the "Y" board. This will benefit guests too! June 14, 2016 Hanford McCloud-“Paddle to Nisqually” The ED of the Leschi Heritage Foundation will talk about upcoming Nisqually tribal activities including a canoe landing at the Port of Olympia on July 30th involving up to 5,000 people. The Nisqually Nation welcomes canoe families & people from all over the world for a week celebration of native families. The theme is Don’t forget the Water.” June 21, 2016 Lakefair Royalty - Meet this year's Lakefair court Five young women, all members of this year's Lakefair court, will give brief speeches before our club today. We can celebrate and honor some of the most talented and beautiful young ladies in our community. Be sure to invite guests to join us for this annual highlight! June 28, 2016 Transition Day @ WOR The torch will be passed from President Bruce Sanders to incoming President Rob Bradley. Remember there are “FREE LUNCH” Coupons on the back table every week for you to use as you invite potential new members to check out our club at a lunch meeting. Get their e-mail address and name on the Coupon and leave at cash register – it’s that easy! Every year one of our greatest endeavors is to encourage and select individuals to support in their educational pursuits.
