Welcome to TYC’s May - June Newsletter, and what a colossal issue it is! What excitement this term will bring with our Shortcuts Festival just over the horizon. All workshop participants are working hard to bring 21 phenomenal theatre experiences to the stage! We are also excited to announce our Wicked Winter Drama Camps are now taking priority bookings for participants aged 5-12 years! A friendly reminder for everyone to ensure that they also bring their water bottle to each workshop as a new term of exhilarating theatrics commences.

In the magical land of Fara Way, there is a new adventure everyday! Armed with a creative imagination and magical chalk, Shannon and her best friend Twitch are always finding new and wondrous quests. Things in Fara Way have never been fairer, that is until a giant moves in next-door, standing at a huge 5ft tall! They can’t possibly battle this giant alone and need your help. Are you brave like Shannon or smart like Twitch? Wherever you fit, they need your wit! Get set for a season of mind-blowing theatrics these school holidays with TYC’s Wicked Winter Drama Program (5yrs – 16yrs). Participate in our 4-day programs and get set for a wild ride! Calling all heroes of the world, we need your help in That’s Incredible: Calling All Heroes (03/07–06/07) or power up your gadgets and stretch out your secret moves in Agent Ice-Pie: With My Keen Eye (10/07–13/07), If you’re feeling the music or can’t help tapping your toes to your favourite song, why not join us for our 5-day Super Scripted series production Let The Games Begin: The Musical (09/07-13/07) with a full length performance showcase on Saturday 14th June.

Step into the spotlight with TYC’s Wicked Winter Holiday Drama Programs these school holidays. Participants make lots of new friends while also improving on their acting abilities, self-confidence, communication and presentation skills, as well as their creativity. Throughout each program students can explore either scripted & improvised acting processes, costumes, lighting, sound & multimedia elements, finishing with a creative performance on the final afternoon in front of a live audience with costumes, sets, props, sound effects, live projections and theatrical lighting!!

END OF SEMESTER SHORTCUTS PERFORMANCE TIMETABLE

Just a friendly reminder to confirm your child’s performance time and date for their upcoming SHORTCUTS FESTIVAL (End of Semester Production). Students will also be required to attend their costume and technical rehearsal prior to their production at TYC. Students are more than welcome to utilize TYCs costumes for their end of semester production, or they are more than welcome to make their costume at home. 1. TYC MAINSTAGE 2018: OLIVIA: THE MUSICAL by MICHAEL SIRCOM FRI 15TH & SATURDAY 16TH JUNE | 7PM

A clever sequel to a timeless classic. This brilliant and innovative musical, set in Victorian times, traces the steps of Olivia, from downtrodden orphan to star of the stage. On her journey to the bright lights of London, she is befriended by Eliza Doolittle and, after a series of adventures, becomes a singer in a new Gilbert and Sullivan show, thanks to the unlikely assistance of Fagin and The Artful Dodger. Watch out for an outbreak of audience handkerchiefs in the final scene! Then be prepared for a great reception for this wonderful musical. Performance Season Friday 15th – Saturday 16th June. Join us for our ‘PLATFORM: Youth Theatre Festival’ Shark Tank Orientation session where you can delve into the devising process with other young creatives. Work along side Platform Youth Theatre Festival coordinators to develop a pitch in our very own theatrical Shark Tank!
