Greetings! We have some great programs and work-shops scheduled for this year. In addition, we've been exploring some field trips that might be of interest to people. If you have additional suggestions, please let me know. Additionally, we will be judging both a PSA and GSCCC round for work-shops this year. Inter Club News

The GSCCC convention was in New Iberia, LA April 19-21. At the convention the win-ners from each of the monthly contests are judged by professional photographers, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 2 honorable mentions are named for the year. We had 12 images from 8 different mak-ers eligible for end of the year awards. Awards are also given to the high-est scoring clubs. Wildlife Photographer

of the Year exhibition opens Friday,

May 4th at the Houston Natural Museum of History. This is the fifty third year of the com-petition developed and produced by the Nat-ural History Museum, London. Additionally, there will be a Photographer's Night on Wednesday, June 20th at 6:00 p.m. Following a viewing of the Photographer of the Year exhibition, photographers can set out on a photo safari in the Museum's Texas and African wildlife exhibition halls while the Museum is closed to the public. http://store.hmns.org/DateSelection.aspx?item=2571

Field Trip Details

Mike Simmons has offered to host a field trip to photograph the Milky Way the night of Fri-day, May 18th. Everyone who is going should plan on meeting at the Buccees #29 at 598 Hwy 332, Lake Jackson, TX at 11:30 p.m. We will caravan together to Kelly Hamby Na-ture Trail at 12083 Blue Water Hwy, Freeport TX. This will give everyone time to get set up and for Mike to answer any questions. He will go over settings in the parking lot. Plan on being there several hours. At the end, Mike has offered to take a group photo of us under the Milky Way! Please wear light colored clothing to be visible in the pho-to. Please remember to bring: Equipment: Camera with manual settings Wide angle lens (preferably 12-35mm) As fast a lens as possible low f-stop 1.4-2.8 Sturdy tripod Remote cable release or intervalometer Hand warmers with rubber band or lens muff Other: Bug Spray Long sleeves/pants if desired Headlamp, preferably with a red light Flashlight for the parking lot or leaving Any desired props for your photos other than people or the stars Portable beach chair or stool Snacks and drinks

ATTENTION:

All Competition Participants Images must be submitted according to club guidelines or your image may not be included in the monthly competition Please follow the sizing instructions carefully: A horizontal image cannot be longer than 1280 pixels along the horizontal side; A vertical image cannot be longer than 800 pixels along the vertical side. ( Vertical images cannot be sized 1280 pixels along the vertical side!) The size of the JPEG image is not to exceed 1MB.( See above for pixel size.)

NEW INFORMATION 4/1/2016

Rename the image according to the guidelines below. For example: An Assignment image by John Brown would appear as AS_Assignment_BrownJ.jpg (Use “M” for Monochrome and “O” for Open categories.) DO NOT use first names, nicknames or ini-tials only, for identification. Also, the size of the title is limited to 35 characters when naming images. It is important that the guidelines for naming files be followed when submitting images for the monthly competitions otherwise you run the risk of not being credited with your entries.

Images that are not easily identi-fied will be discarded.

have been shot within 12 months, prior to

competition meeting for that assignment .

Because of this restriction, we will now choose the categories a year in advance of the category date ,for your convenience. NOTE: Images may not be submitted more than once regardless of the category. Color images may not be submitted as mono-chrome if they have been used in another category and vice versa.
