May – Youth Service Month
New Member Inductions - Ayon Guha and Jeff Nixon
President Gary was thrilled to induct new Rotarians Ayon Guha and Jeff Nixon. Ayon – supported by his wife Wen – and Jeff – supported by four generations of Nixon clan - including his wife Maree - were brought forward by their sponsors David Potts and Neil Davis (standing in for Howard Scheetz). President Gary inducted each new member in turn, and presented each with their dinner badge, new member folder and visiting dinner badge. First Lady Chris P then presented the two partners - Wen and Maree – with their badge, a little bucket of beautiful flowers and a bottle of the President’s muscat. After the official part of the evening, members were invited to welcome Ayon, Wen, Jeff and Maree to the Rotary Club. Both Jeff and Ayon responded, looking forward to a long and happy association with the Club.

International Toast Remembering that President Gary will soon be attending the RI Convention in Toronto Canada, Rtn Stephen proposed a toast to the Rotary Club of Toronto. With 160 plus members, this Club is one of the largest clubs in Canada. It was chartered in 1912 and has acted as host club for 5 RI Conventions – 1924, 1942, 1964, 1983 and 2018. The Club meets at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Fridays at 12.15 pm for lunch.
Special Letter of Appreciation Our Club was the recipient of a framed Certificate of Appreciation plus a very affirming letter from the Federation Council. It was awarded because of our support of the Official Australian Billy Cart championships on Easter Saturday.
Rotary Information Rotary International comprises some pretty famous people. Rtn Ray told us that the list of famous Rotarians includes three US Presidents – Gerald R Ford, Franklin D Roosevelt and John F Kennedy – as well as Thomas Edison, Sir Winston Churchill, The ‘Colonel’ Harland Sanders, Walt Disney and Dr Charles Mayo ( co founder of the Mayo Clinic).
Happy birthday Best wishes were expressed to Norm – our special birthday boy this week.

3. Best wishes – go to Robyn R and Wendy D who are both having a cataract procedure on Thursday 24th.
