InTASC Standard 10: Leadership & CollaborationThe teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for

student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession.

DESCRIPTION RATIONALE

In this PowerPoint I was to talk about an educational issue with my partner. We decided to talk about the lack of parental. I explained how it affects our students in school.

To document my understanding of Standard #10, Leadership & Collaboration I have included information based on the issue I chose. The information shows me what I can do to get my parents involved. It also allows me to collaborate with others to give students that extra push they need.

THE ISSUE Today in education many children suffer from lack of parental support. This is the biggest factor of

why teens drop out next to teen pregnancy. Many teachers go through a whole school year without meeting a parent. This lack of support affects not only the student but the parents and teacher as well.

What’s Your Opinion ?

If parent involvement is such an issue, why haven't schools been adamant about getting them involved?

Are parents fully aware of how and what they can do to ensure their child’s success?
