Location

Maynooth is situated 24km west of Dublin, just 40 minutes from Dublin airport. All theattractions of the capital are within easy reach and the town is serviced by frequent busand rail connections. There is much to see and enjoy in the vicinity of Maynooth, includingCastletown House and Celbridge Abbey.

About the College

Maynooth University dates back to 1795. The campus is extensive and caters for over8,400 students during the academic year. The unique blend of modern facilities on amature campus is the perfect setting for an international language school.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided in modern apartments on campus. Each apartment comprisesa fully fitted kitchen, dining area and comfortably furnished lounge. Accommodation is insingle rooms with the option of both shared and en-suite facilities.

Lessons

Each lesson is 45 minutes in duration and the standard programme for junior students is15 hours per week. Classes are available at all levels from Elementary (A1) to Advanced(C1). Classes for junior students will have a maximum of 15 students, but you can expectan average of 13 students per class. Class times are divided so that students receivelessons from more than one teacher, two per day allowing them the benefit of more thanone voice and teaching style and having a team of teachers liaise on their learning paths.There are 11 comfortable modern, spacious classrooms available in the college.

Sport & Recreational Facilities

Facilities include: a sports complex with gymnasium where students can play table tennis,basketball, badminton, and volleyball, an indoor heated swimming pool and extensiveplaying fields and tennis courts.

Activities & Excursions

Maynooth University offers a very comprehensive cultural, sports and eveningprogramme. Included are two half day cultural excursions to local galleries, museums andother visitor attractions, two Dublin city transfers by coach per week (Saturday & Sunday)and one full day excursion per week to cities and places of cultural importance aroundIreland by private coach. One dinner in Hard Rock Café or similar is also included in thepackage. The activity programme provides young students with an opportunity to absorbsome of Ireland’s rich heritage in a fun and relaxed way.

A residential evening activity programme rounds off each day and includes: discos, IrishNights (Ceili), karaoke, talent nights, treasure hunts and activities such as sporttournaments, Mr. an Mrs. competition and casino night and will ensure that each studenttournaments, Mr. an Mrs. competition and casino night and will ensure that each studentis busy from breakfast to bedtime. Student Welfare

The welfare of our students is of paramount importance to us and we offer a highstandard of care and supervision to all our students. We provide nominated ATC staffmembers to act as guardians to our individual students that travel without group leaders.It is very important for us that our students remain happy and healthy throughout theirstay. Our management at Maynooth University, along with our teachers and activityleaders will ensure that all students receive the best possible care and attention so as tomaximise their experience during their study holiday.

Campus Living

Laundry

There is a private self service launderette available for the studentsuse at Maynooth University. The machines take coins, and washingpowder can be purchased locally or students may bring their own. Atypical wash and dry costs approximately €4.

Cleaning

Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living rooms will be cleaned dailyand rubbish removed by the cleaning staff during the week. Duringoccupancy, towels and bed linen will be replaced once per week.Rooms will be fully serviced between occupancies.

Safe

A safe is available for the security of the students belongings atMaynooth University. Students are encouraged to store large sums ofmoney or valuables here. Travel tickets and passports are normallykept in the safe for the duration of the students stay.

Student Identity CardIn order to co-operate with the security and safety standards atMaynooth University, ATC Language and Travel will supply allstudents with a student identity card. Students must carry their cardwith them at all times.

SecurityThere will be a 24 hour security guard monitoring the facility, dealingwith security and related matters and responding to fire alarmactivations. In order to cooperate with college staff, when askedstudents will be required to identify themselves and respond tolegitimate directions relating to safety, security and good order.

An ATC Language and Travel staff member will assist MaynoothUniversity security in the event of noise disturbances, incidentsinvolving language school participants or medical emergencies.

Fire Safety

All students and groups leaders are to attend a mandatory firebriefing. Any breach of fire safety regulations may result in a fine andexpulsion from the course.

Damages

All students will be expected to pay a €50 damage deposit that willbe collected by the group leaders upon arrival. This will be retainedthroughout the duration of the student’s stay. The deposit will bereturned in full prior to departure less the cost of any damagescaused by the student.

Keys

Electronic key cards will be provided to each student. Lost key cardscan be replaced by Maynooth University staff at a cost of €5 each.

DeliveriesMail and other deliveries for students will be passed on to the CentreManager for subsequent distribution.

Transfers

On arrival at the airport, students will be met by an ATC Language &Travel representative who will escort them to Maynooth University.Dublin International Airport is located approximately 35kms fromMaynooth University, with the average journey time being 50 minutesdepending on traffic.

An airport transfer can only be arranged when flight information isreceived in writing by ATC Language & Travel at least 10 days priorto arrival. ATC Language & Travel cannot take responsibility for thestudents’ arrival transfer unless this procedure is followed.

Medical Information

In the case of a medical emergency, an ATC Language and Travelmember of staff will assist in seeking the appropriate treatment. Anytrips to the doctor, dentist or hospital will have to be paid in full bythe student (including transport where necessary). Maynooth University is well served by public transport, with afrequent bus service from the front gate of the centre. The ARROW(train) station is only a short walk from Maynooth University, with thejourney into Dublin city centre (O’Connell Street Station) taking 45minutes.
