    items5

'n the financial sector! nowadas one can observe a tendenc that consumers are 4enerall confused with

selection aspects as the are spoilt for choices and the are particularl conscious about investin4 in

financial products as there are more e6perts than financial products5 Apart from that! various companies

across the 4lobe! particularl in 'ndia are seen on a rat race of trin4 to capture the market5 Almost ever

compan toda offers some financial product or service to both its emploees as well as customers5 'n

such a situation! it is important for ever compan to understand the market situation as well as the

mentalit or preferences of the consumer5 The main 7ob of an or4aniIation is to cater to the needs of its

'ndian market has seen an unprecedented boom in its activit in the past 0; ears in terms of number of

stock e6chan4es! listed companies! trade volumes! investor population! etc5 owever! this sur4e in activit

has brou4ht with it the ver survival of the capital markets in the lon4 run! most of which are due to the

lar4e volume of paper work involved and paper based tradin45

owever! the real 4rowth and chan4e occurred from the mid J ei4hties in the wake of liberaliIation

initiatives of the .overnment5 The reforms in the financial sector were envisa4ed in the bankin4 sector!

capital market! mutual funds! forei4n investments and .ovt control5 These institutions and stock

e6chan4es e6perienced that the certificates are the main cause of investors problems5 Since the paper

work was not matchin4 the rapid 4rowth! so there was a need for a better sstem to ensure removal of

    these impediments5

The main ob7ective of the stud was #8

To understand the latest development in financial products5

To understand the various risks associated with various financial products like demat!mutual

    funds! insurance etc55

To interact with various investors and understand their needs5

To find out reasons as to wh customers hesitate in investin4 in financial markets5

the pro7ect was to understand financial products and the stock market5

:urin4 m interaction with man customers(includin4 some investors) ' came to know that man of them

have little idea about equit market and the were afraid of takin4 risks and was not sure about returns5

't also came as a surprise that some hi4h profile people like businessmen!advocates! doctors were not

interested in share tradin4 or even in the stock market as man of them did not know the procedures

involved in it5 Some showed disinterest even thou4h the were havin4 sufficient knowled4e about stock
