MC Concept chair – the Black Diamond! In nature, a Diamond is never perfect! It is the polishing and refinement requiring expertise and extensive experience that produces the Diamond’s beauty and increases its utility value. Refinement is therefore of crucial importance to the Diamond’s value.

Our new MC Concept chair has been created in much the same way! From the moment we begin the building process with the completely raw undercarriage until the finally adapted chair is ready for use, MC Concept has developed from something raw and unfinished into something perfect with a large utility value.

Central drive

MC Concept is a centrally driven powered wheelchair with six wheels, of which 4 always have contact with the ground. The ideal weight distribution with the centre of gravity directly above the driving wheels combined with the patented central drive gives the MC Concept unique road-holding qualities, both indoors and out.

The central drive excels in the fact that the MC Concept has a much smaller turning circle than wheelchairs with front or rear wheel drive. The central drive therefore makes it possible and easier to navigate in narrow surroundings such as the kitchen, hallway, bathroom or office.

Door sills are no obstacle either with an MC Concept chair. Outdoors the central drive is experienced in providing increased directional sta-bility, especially when driving on sloping terrain.

Suspension

Surface irregularities are absorbed by the chair’s suspension system, the pneumatic tyres and the ergonomic seating. Puncture proofing is available.

Combined with the low centre of gravity, the suspension system has the effect of giving the MC Concept powered wheelchairs very stable and safe road-holding qualities.

Sitting comfort

Sitting down requires more than we think!

The general perception is that our body, i.e. our muscles, do not need to work very hard when

we sit down and that they therefore relax. This is only true if we are sitting correct posturally

for our particular needs.

A well-designed seat helps to prevent fatigue and other ailments.

For this reason each seat is constructed so that it may be adjusted to the shape of the user’s body, focussing on the correct height for the seat, the correct seat depth and the correct

support for the body.

Height adjustment:

With the height adjustment option this has the effect of ensuring that clothing stays in place and that the headrest remains in the correct

position. (Pressure sore prevention).

Specific sitting problems require special solutions:

Individual solutions can be incorporated in the MC Concept chair so that the chair is

designed to meet precisely your personal needs and wishes.

By tilting the chair further back and then also adjusting the backrest, you can find the most relaxing position.

In this position, the strain on your spinal column is minimal, your body weight is distributed optimally and your body can relax in a comfortable way.

The legs, when elevated correctly, can be positioned above the heart so that any pressure on blood circulation is reduced.

Seat tilt

By utilising the tilting function together with the leg supports and backrest adjustment, the ideal position for relaxing can be found, while at the same time allowing the body’s functions to recuperate. Pressure on the spinal column is relieved while muscles, tendons and joints relax.Body weight is distributed across a larger surface area and the risk of local strains are reduced; as is the risk of pressure sores.The seat tilt function may also be utilised to gain better comfort and balance when driving up and down hills.

Raising the seat

The 30 cm seat (12”) raiser provides the opportunity of meeting other people at eye-level and makes many daily tasks, such as accessing cupboards, easier.

Back rest

The back may be adjusted (snapped) in two places and this can be done independently on each side.

The Velcro strip on the backrest provides good sitting stability and the desired back shape.

Unique adjustment options for the back

The Spinalus module system is special in that it may be easily adjusted at home by users suffering from scoliosis, kyphosis etc. This is possible because the back bars on each

side are jointed and can be adjusted in two places. Furthermore the back of the seat has adjustable Velcro straps, so it is easy to achieve the desired shape.

The back of the seat is also equipped with bracket holders for hinged thoracics, different head

supports etc. The chair may also be equipped with electrical functions such as electric seat adjustment, electric backrest adjustment, electric seat tilt and electric foot supports.

Seat widths of 35 cm (14”), 40 cm (16”), 45 cm (18”), 50 cm (20”), 55 cm (21.5”) and 60 (24”) are supplied as standard (electric forward and back adjustment, electric seat rotation are discontinued)

To make optimal use of the MC Concept chair we have developed a seating system based upon our well-known Spinalus module system. This provides the desired position quickly and correctly.

Replacement and adjustment of the seat is simple and easy, but provides great stability and comfort.

Combined with the Spinalus module system and the flexibility of the seat programme, the optimal sitting posture can be obtained easily and conveniently.

Individual solutions with other seating systems may be supplied, for example with shell seats, pressure sore relieving cushions etc.

Headrests

For headrests to function as intended, they need to be correctly positioned.

An absence of support for the head is one of the greatest challenges for many users. Headrests should be positioned so that they support the back of the head and not the neck.

With the adjustable headrest many negative strains on the musculature are prevented.The headrest is part of our Spinalus module system.

Armrest

The correct height and length for the armrest is a significant part of sitting comfort. Without support it is difficult to keep the body balanced.

Operation of the joystick should be ergonomic; the armrest can therefore be tailor-made and adjusted for individual users.

Steering options

Just about any type of steering can be utilised to control and steer the MC Concept chair. In principle these options are limited by imagination only.

We offer everything from very simple steering to the most complex solu-tions in accordance with the user’s entirely individual requirements. This means that in practice you can have a simple joystick or advanced solu-tions such as chin steering, torso steering, sip and puff controls.

MC Concept 1121 is the optimal indoor-outdoor chair for the demanding user who wishes to mano-

euvre in narrow surroundings such as lifts, small kitchens and bathrooms.

Despite the small dimensions of the chair it is still well-suited to outdoor driving due to its traction, ability to scale kerbs of up to 7 cm, a top speed

of 8 km/h and a range of up to 40 km with a single charge. 50 cm turning circle.

Spinalus Pro The most flexible seating solution you have seen with unique adjustment on the back, and the alternative seat and back cushions. Can be adjusted on site, suited well for users with assymetrical spinal shape, such as scoliosis or for various other needs. The back is provided with mounting slots for various side supports, head supports. Available with manual or electric backrest adjustment, in fabric or vinyl. A number of pads supplied with Clima Therm that ensuresconstant temperature. The Spinalus can be supplied in a variety of seat sizes, possibly also on special dimensions.

Together with Dahl Engineering we have developed a docking system that raises the level of safety for wheelchair users to

new heights.

The combination of docking system and chair has been crash-tested and approved for the requirements laid down in ISO

10542-3 and 7176-19.

In addition to the above-named tests, it also meets the requirements laid down in EU M1 safety requirements for

passenger cars. EU Directive 76/115-2005/41 74/408-2006/96EU (relating

to the anchorage of seats and safety belts in motor vehicles). Thereby TÜV approved. EU Directive 72/245-2006/28 (relating

to electromagnetic compatibility in vehicles).

Dahl docking station and MC Concept 1121 are the only system in the world tested with the Safety/Lap Belt integrated

into the vehicle.

Car seatA seat base frame is also to be found for e.g. standard

VW Caravelle seats which fits the same docking station, which is also crash-tested and approved.

Chairs that have been crash-tested with strapsMany of our chairs have also been crash-tested with straps and have good, visible strap fastenings mounted as standard on the chairs. This makes safety in connection with transport to and from school in disabled vehicles combined with docking in private passenger cars a safe option.
