This provider directory lists doctors, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and other providers that work with Aetna Better Health of Maryland. This book will help you get health care services. You can also call us toll free at 1-866-827-2710, TTY 711, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will help you find a provider. You can also view the most current list online at aetnabetterhealth.com/maryland.
We continue to add new providers to our list. Having the providers name in this book does not mean that they will stay with us. It also does not mean that they are taking new patients. To get the most current list of providers, go to our website. Or you can call us.
If there is a provider you would like to join the plan, call us. We may be able to add them. You will not be able to use that provider until they are part of the plan.
Your Primary Care Provider (PCP) This is your main doctor or caregiver that you picked when you enrolled with us. Your PCP will help you get all the covered services you need. Tell your PCP about any health problems you have. Your PCP will get to know your health history. Check with your PCP before you get services from other providers.
Choosing or changing your PCP Now that you have joined us, you will need to pick a PCP for yourself and your family members who also get health care coverage from us. You must pick a PCP. Each eligible family member does not have to have the same PCP. If you do not pick a PCP, we will pick one for you. You can call us toll free at 1-866-827-2710, TTY 711, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if you have questions
about choosing or changing your PCP. You can also request a new PCP through the secure member portal found on our website at
aetnabetterhealth.com/maryland or through the Aetna Better Health free mobile app available for your smartphone.
Specialty care Specialty care comes from providers who treat certain problems. These providers are called specialists. Some kinds of special health care needs mean that you must visit a specialist instead of your PCP. Your PCP will send you to a specialist if you need one. For most health care, the specialist will only see you if your PCP sends you. If you have questions, call us at 1-866-827-2710, TTY 711, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Emergency When you need emergency care, call 911 or go to the closest hospital. The hospital DOES NOT need to be in our network. You dont need preapproval for emergency transportation or emergency care in the hospital.
