MEAN, MEDIAN, RANGE & MODE
MEAN:
How to get the MEAN:ADD (+) the numbers THEN DIVIDE (÷) by
how many numbers there are.
Example: Find the MEAN of 5, 7, 10, 12, & 9
5 + 7 + 10 + 12 + 9 = 43 ÷ 5 = 8.6
The MEAN is 8.6
MEDIAN:
In the MIDDLE
How to get the MEDIAN:FIRST, put the numbers in order from
smallest to biggest.
THEN, find the number in the middle.
EXAMPLE:What is the MEDIAN of these numbers:3, 10, 7, 15, 2
FIRST, put in order: 2, 3, 7, 10, 15THEN, find the one in the middle
2, 3, 7, 10, 15
The MEDIAN is 7
EXAMPLE #2:What is the MEDIAN of these numbers:3, 10, 7, 15, 2, 18
FIRST, put in order: 2, 3, 7, 10, 15, 18THEN, find the one in the middle
2, 3, 7, 10, 15, 18
The MEDIAN is 8.5
RANGE:
The distance from the smallest number to the biggest number.
How to find the RANGE: Take the biggest number and subtract the
smallest number.
Example: Find the RANGE of 6, 2, 10, 15, 33, 7
33 – 2 = 31
The RANGE is 31
MODE:
MODEO FS TT E N
How to find the MODE:Just look at all the numbers and find the
one you see the MOST OFTEN.
EXAMPLE: What is the MODE of 3, 5, 7, 3, 5, 8, 3
The MODE is 3

SUPPORT SHEET:Mean = Add (+) all the numbers then divide
(÷) by how many numbers there are
Median = Put numbers in order, then find the one in the middle.
Range = Biggest number minus (-) the smallest number
Mode = The number that you see MOST OFTEN
