Standardization of parts is increasing due to market demands in emerging nations and the need
for cost reduction. Standardized parts are required to meet a high level of accuracy for use on
standard and high-end cars, and requirements for improved productivity must be achieved together
with improved processing time. Equipment that can achieve both accuracy and speed is required.
It is becoming increasingly more common to manufacture new products on existing lines in order to
reduce costs. It takes a long time for initial adjustments when programming a manufacturing line for
different products, and there are increased risks of different products becoming mixed. There is therefore
a great demand for techniques that can ensure proper component selection and simplify changeover.

Reducing the size of parts and housings increases the density of each unit. For this reason, the
distance margin between parts becomes smaller, reducing vibration resistance, and rubbing from
the vibration causes parts to wear. Reducing the size of parts means even stricter production

As hybrid and electric cars become more widespread, a larger portion of a traditionally
mechanical drivetrain is being replaced with electric components. As new parts such as motor
components handle larger electricity flows than conventional parts, the internal mechanism
becomes hot. Therefore, new methods of evaluation are required for parts used hear heat
sources or that are used for heat dissipation.
Parts that were conventionally manufactured from metal are now being made from resin for cost reduction andweight reduction purposes.
Reduced weight products have been achieved, but there is now a need for new evaluation methods to check
accuracy and stability, such as dimension and eccentricity evaluation, to ensure standardization of the new products.
