    Thiseffectisduetothetendencyofthetwosidesofthebeltsection,viewedseparately,torideintowardsthehighpointonthepulley,whichisthecrownof

    thecamber.

    Wherepulleycamberistoogreat,thebeltwillintimeacquireaglazedsurfaceinthecentre,asaresultofcarryingthewholeloadandslipping,becausetheedgesofthebeltarenotincontactwiththepulley.
