MECHANICAL (C&W) PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS:- 1. During the year 2013-14, ROH depot PPYD/BIA has given an outturn of 6228 ROH of wagons in comparison to 6173 wagons of last year, which is 0.9% more than the last year. In the month of Dec.-13, PPYD/BIA has given a highest ever ROH outturn of 582 wagons. 2. During the year 2013-14, total 277 wagons have been condemned against the revised target of 150 wagons per year. The disposal of loose scrap and STB has also increased. MECHANICAL (C&W)

PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS:-

3. The average wagon ineffective percentage for the current year 2013-14 has been maintained to 0.77% against the target of 0.91% per month, which is 10.20% better as compared with figure of last year.

4. During this year 2013-.14, total 2580 wagons have been attended for NPOH repairs at BMY sick line in comparison to 1932 wagons in last year with existing resources. The NPOH repair has increased by 33.54% with respect to last year.

5. During this year 2013-14, on an average 72.47% diesel crews have completed their trip within 10 hours (Sign ON to Sign OFF)

as compared to 67.63% of last year and 95.51% of the wheel movement is within 10 hrs in comparison to 84.78% of last year. The average figure of below 10 hrs has been increased by 7.15% with respect to last year.

6. During this year 2013-14, there is significant decrease in Diesel running OT hours by 41.28% with respect to last year. In year 2012-13, total OT hours of running staff was 9355 hrs. while in year 2013-14, it is only 5493 hrs, in spite of the fact that total TO has increased from 21779 nos. to 24221 nos. i.e. 11.21% more as compared to last year.

7. During Feb.-14, 70.40% diesel crew completed their trip within 10 hours (Sign ON to Sign OFF) and 96.73% of the wheel movement is within 10 hrs.

8. Reliability: - The unsatisfactory features of C&W and Loco are given below.

9.AREA OF IMPROVEMENT : -

1. Covered Shed at PPYD-Bhilai has been awarded to M/s S. R. Construction, Bhatapara on 18.11.2013 and the work further same is going to be started shortly.

2. Rs. 3043884/- lakh against damage and deficiency charges and Rs. 403425/- against re-railing charges have been realised from different private sidings during the year 2013-14.

3. 3179.075 Ton loose scrap has been handed over to stores for disposal during the year 2013-14.

4. Hinges of stainless steel doors of BOXN-HL were detected in broken condition during PME of CC rakes in PPYd-BIA .This phenomenon is in increasing trend as more than 300 doors hinges have been found in broken condition. PPYd BIA has now started repairing the broken hinges and thus putting back the repaired stainless steel doors to service. This has resulted in saving of Rs 1.5 Lakhs (approx) per month.

System Improvement (Upto Feb. 14)

1. For Garlic EOT crane, at present no spare coupler of long travel shaft was available. One coupler has been manufactured in-house from rejected Narrow gauge axle by the SSE/machine shop of PP Yard. This coupler is fitted on EOT crane between wheel and motor to transmit power. Three nos. of couplers manufactured and Railway revenue has been saved worth approximately Rs.30,000 as well as spare couplers are available which will reduce the repairing time of crane on account of replacement of long travel running gear.

2. Corner joints of BOXN wagons are prone to breakage during loading/unloading, for corner joint of BOXN wagon strengthening is started for wagons that are repaired for corner joints with 8 mm thick plate with 100 x 80 channels as per requirement. This will give better strength than earlier.

3. A new ATLAS air compressor has been received and commissioned on 20.06.2013 at Ex-Yard/BIA vide P.O. No. COFMOW/IR/S-4417/P-1/G-600, dt. 30.07.13 Amend - 02-02-11 which is running properly and efficiently and improve availability of compressed air.

4. Two nos. of HSD oil flow meter units have been commissioned at RCD/RSD and RCD/BIA on 18.07.2013. These flow meters have been supplied by M/s Mars Products and services, Mumbai. These flow meters will be utilized as standby to old flow meters installed by IOCL and would give better accuracy.

5. Door mediators are the most hit and affected part of wagon body. They are often found in broken or welding open condition. This requires sickline attention of the wagon. A fixture is developed to hold the broken parts in place so that the welding work can be done in-situ without requiring sickline attention of the affected wagon. This saves time and detachment of the wagon.

6. In ROH Depot, Full welding in patches are provided to ensure better reliability of repair attended in ROH wagons.

7. ROH Depot, PP Yard, Bhilai has started ROH of BOXNHL/MBS wagons. Due to breakage of bolster and non-availability of spare bolsters of BOXNHL/MBS wagons, 04 wagons were detained at ROH depot. In order to overcome this problem, 08 nos. of bolsters of BOXNHS trolleys were converted suitably and fitted onto BOXNHL/MBS trolleys. Brake gear was also suitably altered. This has resulted into releasing of 04 BOXNHL/MBS wagons for traffic use.

8. 9. During wheel turning of wheels in wheel lathe, chips are generated in the form of steel turning & boring (STB). The STB so generated get accumulated and is dumped in one place before having disposed by Stores department. Often the dumped STB tends to infringe the rolling stock movement in the nearby track. In order to prevent the scattering of STB towards track, the unusable doors are fixed and aligned so that STB is constrained in earmarked area without infringing movement of rolling stock.

10. A New EUR named as BR-14 has been manufactured and commissioned at Ex-Yard Bhilai within targeted time for transportation of 260 mtr Panel Rails from BSPC to Zonal Railways.

Now Total Nos. of EURs maintained at Ex-Yard Bhilai in Raipur Division are increased from 13 to 14.

11. Wagons of Ex-Yard /BIA based EUR rakes were running with non modified bulk heads. Non modified bulk heads were damaging brackets / pillars and flaps.

Now, all the 18 wagons are modified and the associated problems mitigated.
