Important Before you begin: Open, identify and count all parts prior to assembly. Lay out parts on a flat and non-abrasive surface. You will need the parts identified on page 4 and 5 of this instruction manual. NOTE: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO USE GLUE WITH DOWELS. EXCESS GLUE CAN BE WIPED OFF WITH DAMP CLOTH. Insert the Dowel at least half way by tapping lightly with a rubber mallet, IF NECESSARY.

CAM LOCK SYSTEM OPERATION

HOW THE KNOCK DOWN (KD) ASSEMBLY SYSTEM WORKS

1. Screw the Cam Bolt into the threaded inserts on the panel. Connect both panels together; making sure Cam Bolt goes into the pre-drilled hole on the end of panel for Cam Lock.

2. Insert the Cam Lock into the pre-drilled large hole on the panel. Make sure the arrow on the face of Cam Lock faces out and points towards Cam Bolt.

3. Take a Phillips screwdriver and rotate the Cam Lock clockwise to lock the Cam Bolt in place. 4. Plug the Cam Lock Cover into the cross slot of the Cam Lock to conceal the Cam.

You are now ready to assemble the KD unit.

Assembly Instructions 1. Unpack the unit and confirm that you have all the hardware and required parts. Assembly the unit on a

carpeted floor or the empty carton to avoid any scratch.

2. Locate the Top Panel (A), Center Shelf (F) and Bottom Panel (L) with the holes facing up. Securely screw the Cam Bolts (2) into the designated small holes by a Phillips screwdriver. As shown above.

Assembly Instructions

3. Insert two M6 x 20 mm Wood Dowels (4) into the middle holes of one Side Molding (P). Tap in with a rubber mallet, if necessary. Make sure that you use a small amount of glue with both ends of all dowels. NOTE: It is very important to use a small amount of glue on both ends of dowels.

4. Align and attach the Side Molding (P) to the Left Lower Side Panel (G) with four 25 mm Screws (7). Tighten the screws by a Phillips screwdriver. Make sure that the bottom edges are flush with each other.

5. Securely screw three Cam Bolts (2) into the designated small holes on the Left Lower Side Panel (G), as shown.

6. Repeat the same procedure to combine the Right Lower Side Panel (H) and the other Side Molding (P) together.

Assembly Instructions 8. Securely screw three Cam Bolts (2) into the designated small holes on Left Lower Front Panel (I), as shown.

9. Insert two M8 x 30 mm Wood Dowels (3) into the inner end holes of the Left Lower Side Panel (G).

10. Align the drilled holes on the Left Lower Front Panel (I) with the inserted Wood Dowels (3) on the Left Lower Side Panel (G) and then press them together. Attach the Left Lower Front Panel (I) in place by engaging three Cam Locks (1) (Refer to page 3 on Cam Lock system operation supplement). As shown.

13. Insert six M8 x 30 mm Wood Dowels (3) into the end holes of the Bottom Panel (L) and Back Bottom Stretcher (M) at both ends. As shown. DO NOT insert the wood dowels into the cam bolt holes.

14. Align the large holes on the Left Side Panel (G) with the inserted Wood Dowels (3) on last assembly and press them together. Attach the Left Side Panel (G) in place by engaging three Cam Locks (1). As shown.

15. Repeat the same process to attach the assembled Right Side Panel (H) at the opposite end.

16. Insert four 50 mm Wood Screws (8) through the countersunk holes underneath the Bottom Panel (L) and securely screw into the Lower Front Panels (I and J) by a Phillips screwdriver, as shown above.

Assembly Instructions 20. Gently tap six Floor Protectors (13) onto the bottom of Side Panels (G and H) and the Bottom Stretchers (M

and N) as proper size. Make sure the Floor Protectors rest on the center of panels for avoiding any damage or crack.

22. Secure screw the Cam Bolts (2) into the designated small holes on Upper Front Panels (D and E), as shown in the illustration.

23. Align and attach the Left Upper Front Panel (D) to Left Upper Side Panel (B) by using one M8 x 30 mm Wood Dowel (3) and two Cam Locks (1). As shown. Ensure the outside edges are flush with each other.

24. Repeat last step to combine the Right Upper Front Panel (E) and Right Upper Front Panel (C) together.

Assembly Instructions 33. Now, go back and securely tighten all the Cam Locks and the Screws. Make sure that all the parts are tight

and there are no gaps between the pieces. This will help keep the unit square.

34. Pick up the Back Panel (Q) and align the pre-drilled holes against the upper long edge with the pilot holes on the back stretcher of the Top Panel (A). Attach the Back Panel (Q) in place using the provided 14 mm Washer Head Screws (10). As shown.

Assembly Instructions 35. Unpack the fireplace insert from the inner box and follow the instructions to install the Top Trim and Side

Trims to the fireplace insert.

36. Lift the fireplace insert carefully into the back of the assembled mantel and center it in the opening. DO NOT drag the insert across the Bottom Panel (L) as it may scratch the unit. Check the alignment, and then attach the Fireplace Insert to the Lower Front Panels (I and J) by inserting two Inserts Screws through the drilled holes on each Side Trim and securely screw into place by a Phillips screwdriver.

NOTE: You must install the Acrylic TV Stopper to prevent the TV from tipping when placing your flat panel television directly on the Top Panel (A).

37. Remove the tape of the Acrylic Stopper (9) and place it in the cut-out of the acrylic stopper template on the

front of the Top Panel (A). Make sure it is properly aligned before applying pressure.

38. Remove the acrylic stopper template carefully, as shown above.

39. Plug the Cam Lock Covers (11) onto the visible Cams Locks to conceal the Cam Locks.

Tools required: Phillips Screwdriver, Power Drill, 3/8” Drill Bit and Rubber Mallet.

40. Ask for assistance to position the assembled mantel at the desired location against a wall.

41. Now, follow the instructions printed on the plastic bag containing the Tipping Restraint Hardware to attach the tip-over restraint to the unit and the wall, as shown in the illustration.

NOTE: Young children can be seriously injured by tipping furniture. You must install the Tipping Restraint Hardware with the unit to prevent the unit from tipping, causing any accidents or damage. The tipping restraints are intended only as a deterrent, they are not a substitute for proper adult supervision. The tipping restraints are not earthquake restraints. If you wish to add the extra security of earthquake restraints, they must be purchased and installed separately.

42. Connect the fireplace to a power transformer. Follow the separated operating manual of electric fireplace to control your fireplace.

Care and Maintenance

Use a soft, clean cloth that will not scratch the surface when dusting. Use of furniture polishes is not necessary. Should you choose to use polishes, test first in an

inconspicuous area. Using solvents of any kind on your furniture may damage the finish. Never use water to clean your furniture as it may cause damage to the finish. Always use coasters under beverage glasses and flowerpots. Liquid spills should be removed immediately. Using a soft clean cloth, blot the spill gently. Avoid

rubbing. Always use protective pads under hot dishes and plates. Heat can cause chemical changes that may

create spotting within the furniture finish. Stains or marks from crayons or ink markers will be difficult to remove. In the event that your furniture is stained or otherwise damaged during use, we recommend that

you call a professional to repair your furniture. Check bolts/screws periodically and tighten them if necessary.

Further advice about wood furniture care It is best to keep your furniture in a climate-controlled environment. Extreme temperature and humidity changes can cause fading, warping, shrinking and splitting of wood. It is advised to keep furniture away from direct sunlight as sun may damage the finish. Proper care and cleaning at home will extend the life of your purchase. Following these important and helpful tips will enhance your furniture as it ages.

Cleaning trim for fireplace Clean the metal trim using a soft cloth, slightly dampened with citrus oil based product and buff with a clean soft cloth. DO NOT use brass polish or household cleaners as these products will damage the metal trim. Citrus oil based products can be obtained at supermarkets or hardware stores. A Touch-up Pen has been provided to repair any small nicks or scratches that may occur during assembly or shipping.
