Mission Statement………………...……………………………………..…..…4
A Message From the Designer I am Kelly Louise; the inventive force behind the jewelry conception of K. Louise Designs. I am a creator of positive emotions through my wearable art. I am a storyteller, a time traveler, an architect. I make jewelry to be able to connect a thought, a feeling, and a message through my work which exhilarates me. Each piece of jewelry conveys a message which allows the wearer to become one with the elements. I construct jewelry to show the balance between all things being connected, as well as, individual's with free will and self-expression. I invent bold statement pieces that allow everyone's inner and outer beauty to shine.
I find my inspirations come mostly from nature. I am a huge fan of the Art Nouveau Period which began at the turn of the 20th Century. I enjoy the whimsical lines and organic motifs. Tiffany glass and jewelry from this period has had a profound effect on my design concepts. I also love to travel. I like to incorporate items that are native to various world cultures to accentuate the connection that we all have with mother earth and each other. I enjoy that I have the ability to express myself without limitations through my artwork. I am fascinated by the idea that my inner most design concepts are put into functional use and that my work will live on beyond myself. The idea that I will leave my artistic fingerprint on society through my work is surreal to me.
I think you will agree that my designs are truly functional works of art. Sincerely,
Kelly Louise

It’s an unfortunate truth: As peopleget older, their metabolism — the pro-cess by which the body burns caloriesfrom food — can slow down by as muchas 25 to 30 percent. Luckily, there are
ways to fight back without turning toone of the “miracle” remedies on themarket (which, doctors say, generallydon’t work anyway and can be unsafeto boot).
! Don’t skip breakfast. Without foodin the morning, the body shifts intostarvation mode and tries to save en-ergy by burning fewer calories. It’sbest to eat more food early in the dayand end with a light dinner.
! Eat small amounts, but often.Every time you eat, your body has to
burn calories for digestion. Aim forhealthful meals or snacks every threeto four hours.
! Keep moving. Even if you do ahard daily workout, your metabolismwill slow down if you spend the rest ofthe day sitting. As much as possible, take short walks, climb stairs or — ifyou’re truly chained to a desk — fidgetand stretch.
! Strength train. Muscle tissueburns more calories than fat. At leasttwo or three days a week, add free
weights or resistance training to yourworkouts. Note: Lifting small handweights while watching television is abonus.
! Get your protein. The body has towork harder to digest protein compar-ed to fat or carbohydrates, and pro-teins also are the building blocks formuscle. Good sources include leanmeats, fish, beans, reduced-fat dairyproducts and (in moderation) nuts.
! Get your vitamins. The nutrientsin fruits, vegetables and multivitamins
protect cell structures that convertfood to energy. One recent study, infact, suggested vitamin C helps thebody burn fat longer.
! Drink wisely. Water is key to theenergy-burning process, while greentea appears to speed up metabolicrate. On the flip side, alcohol canmake the body burn fat more slowlythan usual.
! Get your sleep. With a good sevento eight hours a night, you’re muchmore likely to stay active during the day.
Give your metabolism a boost without taking pillsThere are strategies you canuse to help your body burnmore calories from food.

SU S A N G O L E M B I S K I o fMount Penn had a hardtime coming up with a sim-ple title for herself.
She’s not a tailor, for exam-ple — that implies she alters primari-ly men’s clothing.
She could be a seamstress.“I like the word ‘seamstress’ — it’s
old-fashioned,” she mused. But it doesn’t quite seem to cap-
ture all that she does — alterationson bridal wear and ready-to-wearclothing, designing and making herown garments and creating custompieces, from sketch to finished prod-uct, for clients.
Eventually, she does settle on a ti-tle — designer and seamstress —with the help of her business partner,Kachina Martin of Adamstown, whostraightforwardly calls herself afiber artist.
It’s similarly difficult to come upwith a simple summation of Golem-biski’s and Martin’s store, l’atelier atfrock, West Reading.
Is it a boutique? A gallery? Golem-biski’s studio?
Probably the best course is to de-fine the store — which opened last
year in the Salon Salon building at600 Penn Ave., West Reading, andwelcomed Martin as a partner thissummer — as all three.
A boutique, in that it carries thesame mix of items as many of itsneighbors in West Reading — cloth-ing, accessories, jewelry and homedecorations.
A gallery because virtually all ofthe items sold there are created by ashifting cast of small-scale, mostly lo-cal artists and artisans, including thework of the two women who run it.
And a studio because, as frock, thestore also is the base of Golembiski’sclothing alteration business.
Artist’s work spaceL’atelier is a French word meaning
an artists’ work space, or studio, Mar-tin said.
Strictly speaking, l’atelier is thestore side of the business, and frockis Golembiski’s alterations business.
But in practice, there’s no strictseparation between the two areas ofthe business, its owners say: besidesher clothing designs on the racks,Golembiski’s alteration work oftenspills into the store area; brides andbridesmaids in for fittings may step

“ I desire to be to the new Millennium, what Art Nouveau was to the turn of the century!” exclaims, K.Louise.
And what does that mean?
To be novel, she replies………………
In the realm of fine jewelry, the quest for innovation and exploration has lead K. Louise to create extraordinarily beautiful renditions of one of a kind contemporary wearable art forms since the debut of her business, K. Louise Designs in April 2003. Placing an emphasis on originality, her jewels are inspired by nature, self-expression, fantasy, and various world cultures.
Graduating in 2002, with Honors, from Rutgers University with a BA in Fine Arts, along with her independent study work at Northern Arizona University and the University of Pretoria, South Africa, K., Louise has transformed her vision into specialized designs that encompass an array of styles, materials, and inventive concepts.
“Being connected to the elements of the earth is a significant part of my life, and I enjoy incorporating that into my designs. Traveling to other countries has allowed me to enjoy other cultures and environments, which has been a tremendous source of inspiration. Each piece tells a story and expresses an emotional state of being.”
Artist Bio
As a result of her 2002 thesis in blown glass and metal, K. Louise is able to incorporate other materials such as; blown glass, vintage glass, recycled glass from local and world venues that are assembled to create vibrant sets. Precious stones are also woven into intricate motifs initiating a colorful spectrum of sparkling jewels.
Exotic woods from Hawaii, South American, and South Africa are individually selected and transformed into authentic collections. Local Pennsylvania woods are also utilized in order to further assist in the Forest sustainability movement. Sustainability can be described as meeting the needs of the present socially, economically, and environmentally, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
K. Louise has exhibited her sculptures and jewelry in juried shows, such as; the Phillips’ Mill art Gallery, New Hope, N.J. Juried Show in September 2003, as well as, Taylor Backes Glass Studio in Pottstown, Pa., November 2003. Since 2003, she has also completed commissions fro private art and jewelry collectors.
Her recognizable work has gained popularity in galleries ,cutting edge boutiques, and magazines looking for new and unique designs.
Each piece is handcrafted with devotion and the desire for expressiveness through art.

“Arte Joven”
K. Louise Designs- 2011 Collection K. Louise Designs latest body of work for 2011 is entitled, “ Arte joven,” a Spanish word for “New Art.” This collection revitalizes the jeweler’s art with nature and rebirth as the principal source of inspiration, complemented by new levels of virtuosity in the introduction of nontraditional materials, such as; brass, copper, gold, silver, leather, bone, snakeskin, and sustainable wood.
An emphasis is placed on highly-stylized organic shapes, sustainable woods, rhythmic pattern, industrial materials, strong colors, and ethnic accents for both woman and men. With this compilation, a different type of jewelry emerges, motivated by the story that unfolds throughout each piece which heightens awareness of the jeweler as an artist not a craftsman.
Each piece is handcrafted with devotion and the desire for expressiveness through art. Wear with brilliance and enjoy!
