PRACTICE SESSIONS
News access rulesTeam practice sessions are in principle closed to media and fans. However a team can always decide to keep a session open.
90-minute sessions: Al teams must guarantee media access to their players and coaches for interviews during the 10 buffer minutes between two practice sessions. They should also open their last 5 minutes of their practice for photo/video opportunity.
60-minute or shorter sessions: Coaches and players are invited to make themselves available for the last five minutes at the end of the session
While players and coaches are expected to communicate with the media, they also have a right to privacy. Media should respect this right and as a general rule avoid contacting players and coaches directly outside of periods of media availability, especially in and around the team hotel. Instead, requests for access to players should be submitted to the team press officers.
Schedules You can always access the updated schedules of all official practice sessions in every venue by clicking here.

Mixed zoneThe Mixed Zone allows all accredited media – regardless of their status as rights-holders or not to approach players and coaching staff for interviews and reaction following the conclusion of each game.
Members of the media wishing to use the Mixed Zone should take their positions before the end of the game.
Access to the mixed zone will be prioritized at the discretion of FIBA Media Operations. Access will firstly be granted to rights holders and then non-rights holders.
The coaches and players of both teams are required to exit the court via the Mixed Zone. While not officially obliged to stop, players and coaches have been strongly encouraged to take the time to answer questions in the Mixed Zone.
However, players and coaches are under no obligation to stop and give interviews. Accordingly, members of the media working in the Mixed Zones are requested not insist too forcibly. Tournament Mascot: Sam Dunk
STORY & PERSONALITY
This is the story of a young boy, who loves basketball above all other sports and dreams of being a great basketball player/superstar. In his imagination he has created an alter ego for himself, a superhero who has rocket boots and so, despite his diminutive size, can compete with the basketball giants on equal terms.
His rocket boots and superhero powers enable him to orbit the court, zoom past opponents and boost himself to dizzying heights to score the perfect cosmic slam dunk. He is fast, cute, cool and a passionate fan of the game. He is friendly, imaginative and colourful.
His imagination knows no bounds and he is able to power-up, launch himself into a low orbit and land in any of the four host countries, host cities and basketball arenas - to follow his favourite sport and meet all the other fans.
COLOURS
The boy’s hair reflects the corporate identity of the event.
NAME
Sammy (only his mum calls him that) has chosen Sam Dunk for his alter ego’s name. To any basketball fan, the slam dunk is the quintessential highlight of any game. Only the biggest, tallest and best players can achieve this - unless you’ve got rocket propelled boots and the determination to win that is. To Sam (Sammy) everything is about winning…and basketball… and winning with style.
