DescriptionThe Main Media Centre is located in the Holmenkollen arena at the top of the Midtstubakken HS 106 Ski Jumping hill, with the International Broadcast Centre as an integrated part.
The MMC is Oslo 2011’s main venue for the press and photographers with common media working rooms.
It also accommodates the MMC Info Centre and Media Cafeteria for all accredited media representatives including broadcasters.
The MMC Info Centre contains an Info Desk, results services, FIS Media Office, VisitOSLO & Innovation Norway, lockers, sofas for relaxing and watching TV, refreshments and service-minded staff.
Media CafeteriaThe Media Cafeteria covers an entire floor of the MMC and sells hot and cold food including Norwegian specialities. It is open 08:00-21:00 on all competition days (see detailed opening hours on previous page).

The menu includes soup and dinner special of the day, elk burger, vegetarian dish of the day as well as a two-course press menu. Rolls, cakes, sweets, hot and cold drinks, beer and wine are also offered.
Press ConferencesThe MMC Info desk area accommodates two press conference rooms, one large and one smaller. The smaller can be booked for occasional use.
All international press conferences in the MMC will be covered live by NRK Host Broadcaster. The signal will be fed to MCR and offered to rights holding broadcasters free of charge.
Sound from international press conferences will be recorded by the Host Broadcaster Radio Coordinator. The sound will be available on Euroradio Exchange System http://sport.ebu.ch/ immediately after the conference.
The press conferences will be streamed to the internet at www.nrk.no/sport.

SMS ServiceAn SMS media alert system will be offered by Oslo 2011 during the Championships to media personnel who have registered their mobile numbers when applying for accreditation. The service will provide immediate warning about programme changes or delays, jury decisions, changes in the programme, additional press conferences, etc.
Broadcasters can contact the information desk in the MMC Info Centre to sign up or de-register for the SMS service.
Sports News ServiceDuring the NWSC, Sports News Service will publish editorial sports news and images on www.oslo2011.no . A selection of items and articles will also be available in the MMC Info Centre.
PR & Communications The PR & Communications Department can be contacted for media requests between 09:00 and 17:00 at +47 994 12 011 or for general requests at +47 815 02 011.

Oslo PassAll accredited media representatives will receive a VIP Oslo Pass together with their accreditation, valid from 22 February to 7 March.
The pass provides free admission to all museums and attractions in Oslo and free travel on trams, trains, buses, underground, boats and ferries. The VIP Oslo Pass is distributed by Oslo 2011 in cooperation with Visit Oslo and the local and regional tourism industry.
Media SightseeingVisitOSLO offers a daily sightseeing programme for accredited media as alternative transport to the MMC/IBC in Holmenkollen Arena. The programme includes breakfast and guided tours to Oslo attractions.
Buses depart from downtown Oslo between 07:45 to 08:00 and arrive at MMC at 10:00. For registration and information please contact VisitOSLO in the MMC Info Centre or at [email protected]

If you have misplaced your data cables, broken your fibre patch or struggle with stubborn hardware, IT Support might be able to help you
WiFi There are several wireless LAN networks (SSID) presented free of charge in Holmenkollen area.
The SSID HKNA_Press is reserved for rights holding broadcasters.Login info will be available in the MMC and the IBC Booking office.
WiFi supporting 802.11a, 80211b and 802.11g standard protocols with no guarantied bandwidth.
Please note that setting up your own WLAN in the Holmenkollen area is not permitted.
Communications with private frequencies have to be cleared with Norwegian Post and Telecommunication Authority (NPT) located in IBC.
Wired DatalineWired datelines spanning over different bandwidths options are available throughout Holmenkollen. Both SM and MM fibre lines are also available as point to point connection.

Mobile servicesNetCom, Telenor and Network Norway have extended coverage in Holmenkollen during Oslo2011. SIM cards, 3G and 4G modem are available in the Mobile Shop located in the MMC Info Centre.

FrequenciesAnyone using RF equipment in Norway has to apply for requested frequencies at The Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority (NPT).
NPT’s main tasks during the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships will be to ensure that radio systems and equipment can function properly. Radio equipment is subject to control to verify compliance with the temporarily issued frequency licenses.
NPT will also monitor the frequencies allocated for temporary use during the event to oversee that these are used in accordance with the issued licenses and free from interference or interruptions. NPT will also assist in resolving frequency related problems that may occur.

The accreditation control system will be operative from Friday 18 February.
The accreditation cards are pre produced and will be ready for pickup upon arrival. Rights holders’ authorized personnel can make arrangements in advance to pick up the accreditation cards collectively for their crews at the IBC booking office.

Lost or stolen accreditation card must be reported immediately to the accreditation office.
The Accreditation Card The accreditation card is valid for the venues in Holmenkollen and for the medal ceremonies at the University Square in downtown Oslo.
A chip on the accreditation card validates the card holders’ access privileges. At the main gates as well as other important entrances, access might be controlled with chip reading devices.

Accreditation SystemA simplified accreditation system has been developed for the 2011 FIS NWSC, organized more in line with the Olympic Games accreditation concept.
The colour field in the lower part of the accreditation card corresponds with the colours used in the venue map (see opposite page) indicating different accredited areas. Thus it will clearly appear to which areas the main groups have access. The groups are:
Blue Sport (teams), Sport Racing Service and FIS staff, FIS Study (limited), sport volunteers and management. Additional access: all white areas.
Yellow Press (journalists/photographers), media volunteers and management.Additional access: all white areas.
WhiteVolunteers and staff of Oslo 2011, FIS Family, FIS Study. Additional access: none.
Orange Host Broadcaster and RTV rights holdersAdditional access: all white areas.
GreenSuppliers/contractors of Oslo 2011.Additional access: all areas depending on type of work.

RTV Accreditation AccessThe orange accreditation group is divided into the categories RH (RTV rights holder) and HB (Host Broadcaster). The two categories have access to the same areas: IBC MMC Media cafeteria MMC Info Centre, press conference rooms TV compounds (IBC, HS134, HS106, CC and University Square) Commentary positions Accredited walkways Ski lifts (except HS134 tower)
Additional CredentialsIn various areas (see below table) a specific, additional credential is required for access to the broadcaster zones.
The devices are only valid together with the accreditation card and must be worn clearly visible.
The credentials (armband or bibs) are issued by Oslo 2011 and allocated by NRK Host Broadcaster following broadcasters’ bookings. Supplementary access devices are distributed at the IBC Booking Office

Camera StickersAll portable video recording and ENG cameras used by rights holding broadcasters must be authorized and accredited through NRK Host Broadcaster. Numbered camera stickers will be issued to broadcasters in requested amounts at the IBC Booking office.
Day passA limited number of day passes will be available at the IBC Booking Office for rights holding broadcasters. The day pass must be returned when the guest is leaving each day.
The day pass will only allow access to accredited zones matching the colour on the day pass card.
Broadcasters with studio/announce platforms will be issued a limited number of passes to get non-RH accredited guests into their studios.
In-field accessAccess to athletes/sports and competition areas will require special arrangements and is subject to approval by the Ski-VM 2011 Sports director or Chief of competition for the respective sport area. For enquiries, contact the Booking Office.
ENG crews are free to film in public areas and along the tracks outside fences.

Media Shuttle Shuttle buses will be available for accredited media free of charge during the entire Nordic World Ski Championships period.
From 18 February to 7 March these buses will run at least once per hour, in principle.
The frequency will increase before and after competitions and will be adjusted to the programme of events each day. In peak hours there will be departures every 20 minutes.
The buses will make round trips between Holmenkollen and the hubs at the Clarion Hotel Royal Christiania and Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel in downtown Oslo.
The buses stop at the MMC/IBC at Holmenkollen. From there an internal shuttle will be running to selected venue areas including the accreditation centre at the Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica.
The Media Shuttle will stop at night at University Square in downtown Oslo for the medal ceremonies.

Public TransportThe media accreditation card is also valid for free public transport within the city of Oslo during the period 22 February to 6 March 2011. The tram stops approximately 1000 metres from the IBC.

Parking
The new Holmenkollen National Arena is extremely congested and only a very limited parking allotment can be provided. Broadcasters should thus generally base their operation on the media shuttle system organised by Ski-VM 2011. Broadcasters have been allocated space for their technical vehicles in the RTV compound area (see IBC section, page 109).
Parking of ENG and other non-technical vehicles outside the compound area will require parking permissions issued by Oslo 2011.
Based on broadcasters’ submitted requirements, parking permissions have been allocated in parking areas next to the IBC, at Midtstuen near the Ski Jumping HS 106 wax cabins (shuttle to MMC) and “Victoriatomta” in the Northern part of the arena (shuttle to MMC).
Parking permissions can be picked up by authorised RHB personnel at the IBC Booking Office.

Parking at Medal plazaVehicles with parking permissions will be allowed at ”Tullinløkka” in the backyard of Medal Plaza.
There are special shuttle service lines for accredited media between Holmenkollen and Medal Plaza.
