A media institution is a company that owns large number of companies in various mass media such as television, radio, publishing, movies and the internet. Values and ideology are transmitted through the representations in texts. Powerful institutions can influence the attitudes, interests, and desires of people on a world scale.A production company essentially helps to create the film- its assists in the budgeting, scheduling, scripting, casting and more. The company usually looks over the film from when its just an idea to completion.They are responsible for finding a director and the majority of acting talent required.

Who we chose?For our opening sequence the Media production company we want to distribute our product is Film4 and Vertigo Films. our opening sequence is a low-budget British film co-funded by Film4 and vertigo films with a target audience of 15 to 25 and a genre of ‘football hooliganism’, our media product would be best suited for Film4 Productions and vertigo films. Film4 Productions is a British film production company owned by Channel Four Television Corporation. The company has been responsible for backing a large number of films made in the United Kingdom. Vertigo Films is a British film production and film distribution company based in London, England.

Reasons to chose these companies?

A quote from the Film4 website states; ‘As a general rule, we do not develop films for family audiences.’Both production companies were responsible for creating ‘The firm’ one of the greatest films made in our Genre! this is a great reason to chose them as it gives us confidence we can believe in them turning our vision into a reality.British films are Film4’s speciality which coincides with our opening sequence.These production companies are deemed as successful in the media industry.
