Almost Same As Japan
Facts on 1st Workshop
• Workshop Material : All were in English.
• Three Foreign + one domestic facilitators– Dr. Karen Barnes (Republic of South Africa)
– Prof. Kiichiro Tsutani (Japan)
– Prof. Eiji Uchida (Japan)
– Dr. Kyun-Seop Bae (Korea)
• Participants: Forty four MD professors from 33 nationwide universities of all 41
Differences with Japan Workshop
• Free of charge in registration
• No foreign participants
• Participants were selected by the deans of me
dical colleges and academic socieities.
• All Participants were MD professors.
The 2nd Korea P-drug Workshop
The 2nd Korea P-drug Workshop
• Thirty three medical professors from 19
universities.
• Similar program to the 1st workshop
• Difference with 1st workshop
– All facilitators were from the 1st workshop
participants, domestic university professors.
– Korean character version cases were
provided, which were developed on May
2001.
P-drug for Undergraduate
P-drug for Undergraduates• Seoul National University
– PBL module for 2nd year students. 2002-05, 3-days course– Korean version, consulted to endocrinologist to remove any e
rror or unrealistic situation– Three cases: DM, DM with hypertension with/without hyperch
olesterolemia
• Yonsei University– Some professors use their own bedside teaching time for p-d
rug education.
• Korea University– In developing of PBL module for undergraduates
• Many unreported activities
Future Plan• Workshop for intra-university
professors– Prerequisite for resident, medical
student training
• Workshop for primary physicians– Especially become important with
the separation of prescription from dispensing drugs
– Most easy
• Workshop for residents– Most difficult due to lack of time and
facilitators
Good Strategy for Propagation
• Work with persons in authority like deans
• Cooperation among several medical academic societies like society of pharmacology, society of internal medicine, society of medical education
• Free or little of charge – Need sponsors
• Separation of PBL module developing from simple facilitatoring– Module developing is much more difficult than the facilitating.
• Shorten the workshop course time
• Highly recommend intra-mural workshop
