SERMON LISTENING & DISCUSSION GUIDE DIGGING DEEPER
In this series we have learned...a. God loves to give grace - for the disobedient, the prodigal, and us.b. Prayer is the most powerful thing we can do for the prodigals in our lives.c. Transformation happens through repentance, power of the Holy Spirit, and by offering ourselves to God.d. God uses storms, struggles, and trials to draw each of us back to Him.e. God forgives us when we repent and turn back to Him.f. When we are obedient to God and remain in Jesus we become fruitful.
5. Read 1 Timothy 2:1-7
a. What does God call each of us to do for the perishing?
b. Knowing God loves, forgives, transforms, and calls us to pray
is easy for us to recognize but harder to do. What makes
praying for or sharing your faith with the Ninevehs in your
life still difficult?
c. How are these things standing in your way of acting in
obedience to God’s call?
MAKING IT APPLICABLE
In the message today, we learned that the problem is that we’re not
praying for the people who live in the wickedness we say we hate.
Take some time to pray together for the Ninevehs in your life:
a. Forgiveness for your attitude toward them
b. The grace to care about their salvation
c. A vision of what transformation could look like for them
d. That God will draw them back to Himself which
leads to repentance
e. That you will have the boldness and love to be obedient to
however God is calling you to love, care, and share
your faith with them.
1. There’s a little _____________ in all of us and a lot of
____________ in most of us.
2. God wants us to obey from the heart, with ______________
and not grudgingly.
3. Will we have God’s _____________ for the Nineveh’s
of our world?
4. God still _______________ Nineveh!
5. God is still waiting to _________________ ______ ____________
to get you to Nineveh!
6. Nineveh __________ you.GETTING STARTED
1. What insight or observation from this week’s message did you find
most helpful, eye-opening, or troubling? Explain.
2. We all know people or groups that frustrate, irritate, or anger us
(our Ninevehs). Without giving names, what are some of the
characteristics of those people or groups in your life
that unnerve you?
3. These same people can seem to be undeserving of God’s grace to
us, even when we know better. 2 Peter 3:9 says, “instead He is patient
with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to
repentance.” How does this verse change your perspective on God’s
love for these people? How should it change our attitudes?
