WORKERS’ COMPENSATIONThe OHCC covers homecare and personal support workers under workers’ compensation. OHCC helps them file claims if injured on the job.
COMMISSIONERSNine commissioners appointed by the Governor for up to three (three-year) terms make up the OHCC.›› Five commissioners are
homecare services’ consumers.
›› The other four represent Department of Human Services Aging and People with Disabilities Program, the Governor’s Commission on Senior Services, Oregon Disabilities Commission, and the Oregon Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Disabilities.

In 2000, Oregon citizens voted to amend the state constitution to create the Oregon Home Care Commission.
The OHCC serves Oregon’s:
›› Older adults and people with disabilities
›› Children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities and
›› Adults experiencing mental illness.
HOMECARE AND PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER TRAINING PROGRAMThe OHCC offers statewide in-person and online trainings for homecare and personal support workers. The trainings enhance their skills and the service quality they provide.

CONSUMER-EMPLOYER TRAINING PROGRAMThe OHCC offers free training to consumers who hire homecare and personal support workers. It helps them become successful employers. They learn about interviewing, writing job descriptions and good communication skills.
REGISTRYThe OHCC has a Registry that matches employers with homecare and personal support workers. Workers provide routine, emergency and respite care to help people stay at home. The Registry is available 24/7 on the internet.
