ENERGY SAVING UV INK

We have developed full line ups in MEGACURE LED UV and

MEGACURE FA-QD series, such as Process colors, Pantone spot

colors, gloss, matt, satin varnish, Gold and Silver. Outstanding

advantages are substantial power supply saving, no air duct

equipment required and ozone-less.

RETROFIT UV PRESS: MEGAMI’S SUPPORT

CORRESPONDING TO RETROFIT UV PRESS

Only one LED UV lamp module can be equipped at the part of delivery

of simple four color printing press to cure printed sheets. For printers,

who will retrofit LED UV lamp to their oil based conventional press,

we can provide with technical information, tying up with retrofit UV

lamp module makers. The more latitude of distance between UV

lamp and printed surface can be given by intensified LED UV lamp

radiation.

We are in an appropriate position to give technical advices to oil based

ink printers who may suffer initial troubles or inconvenience arising

before mechanical system, such as rollers and blanket, fits in with

LED UV printing or Power Saving UV printing.

We Are Devoting Ourselves to The Development of The Following Applications.

UV MEGACURE FA-QD SERIES - (POWER SAVING UV)

● Application to the UV Web Offset. 　To bring in countless advantages, that is, to eliminate

massive drier energy cost of heatset web. Substantial paper waste can be minimized at the unit of

drier and paper folding because no hot air blowing enables paper run straight without meandering while

at frequent restarting until the cruising speed. Space saving owing to no long oven unit & no gas duct.

UV MEGACURE LED SERIES -( LED UV)

●Exclusive application to the Non-Absorbent Plastic Films and Aluminum metalized paper.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE TWO.

Photo initiator of LED UV ink initiates photopolymerization (cross-linking reaction) by radiation of only

the specific wavelength (one peak 365 or 385-395 nm) of LED UV lamp. On the other hand, photo initiator

of FA-QD will initiate that process by radiation of multiple peaks from 300 nm up to 500 nm of UV light,

yet with far more sensitive to UV lihgt than the photo initiator of a conventional UV system does.

As far as power of prompting photopolymerization concerned, UV system of FA-QD is relatively more

powerful owing to the wide latitude of peaks than LED UV System. Therefore LED UV ink can cure

compatibly even with the FA-QD System press.

One lamp module, equipped at a delivery part of the press of both systems can make the printed

surface cured. That is why 70-80% power supply cost can be saved.

LED (Light Emitting Diode) UV Lamp for LED UV press:

LED UV curing lamp converts very efficiently input electrical power into

usable UV light to cure printed ink without generating ozone and heat.

LED UV wavelength is 365 nm or 385-395 nm.

UV lamp for power saving press:

Both ends of wavelength to be cut, i.e. less than 300 nm (Ozone

emitting area) and more than 500 nm (the latitude toward infrared ray area)

Metal Halid Lamp:

It is used for multiple layered color printing because output of longer

wavelength (300-450 nm) is stronger.

Hign Pressure Mercury lamp:

This is used for overcoating as shorter wavelength is stronger.

OIL BASE METALLICK INKS 1) Oil Based Metallic Ink:

〇 HIGHLY BRILLIANT GOLD

Leafing pigments exhibit a tendency to float to the surface of the printed ink film and to align parallel to the surface of it. We achieved maximum brilliance and coverage as well as high printability on both of coated and uncoated paper. Therefore our products are highly acclaimed as Megami Brand by designers and printers in domestic and overseas market.

〇 GLOSS AND RUB RESISTANCE GOLD AND SILVER

Coatability is given to this types. Less leafing gains more gloss and rub-resistance. As an unique applications, it is suggested that less leafing silver mixed with leafing gold (Rich shade) makes Platinum Gold shade, with the variation of mixing ratio. For example, Silver versus Rich Gold:

50% : 50%, up to 90% : 10%.

〇 NL SILVER (Non Leafing Silver)

NL Silver can expand availability for creating novel and attractive design. Overprinting is superior in printability on NL Silver. NL Silver can be colormatched well with other color pigmented ink, that makes unprecedented bright and clear tinted metallic colors.

3) LED UV & Power Saving UV Metallic Inks: Pale, Rich shade and Silver.

Please refer to the page of Energy-Saving UV ink series. We have full line ups of Gold and Silver

for the application of LED UV press system and Power saving UV press system. Besides Gold and

Silver, Process colors, Pantone spot colors and OP varnish (Matt, Gloss, Satin) are available.

Equipment Printability

Coater Roll Coater To print thick, ink is not well distributed to rollers, causing uneveness in solid area.

Chamber Coater Coating film thickness is uniform and ink(varnish) leveling is very good.

Plate Blanket (Roll Coater) Likely to be inferior in ink (varnish) transfer and leveling. Not suitable for thick coating.

Resin Plate (Chamber coater)Have constantly better ink (varnish) transfer and leveling.

4) UV Flexographic Metallic Inks: Pale, Rich shade and Silver.

Brilliancy is as high as that of gravure printing. For label, sticker and package, environment

conscious solvent free printing can be realized, by shifting from solvent based gravure printing.

5) Water based Flexographic Metallic Inks: Pale and Rich Gold.

Very environmental friendly metallic ink as it is not composed of solvent. Easy washing out

performance and no smell of toluene makes a contribution to improvement of working environment.

This is applicable to inline coater unit of offset printing press in addition to Flexographic press.

For inline coater of the offset press, chamber coater with annilox roller system is recommendable

in terms of uniformity of image, ink transferability and leveling, rather than inline roll coater.(Water based Silver is not exportable because the reaction of water /Aluminum generates hydrogen gas during

long transportation.)

LMI (Low Migration Ink), We will keep on tackling with evolving global regulations over this issue. We have a broad range of LMI process color, spot colors, gloss/matt, satin varnish for food packaging, which comply with updated stringent global governmental regulations and global food maker's demands.

●FOR ADDING NOVELTY

UV Flexographic Pearl Varnish and Water based Pearl Varnish are applicable to both inline coater of aoffset press and flexographic press, however it is recommended to use chamber coater with annilox roller of inline coater or Flexographic Press to get enough pearl luster effect. Recommended annilox roller specification: 150-250 line/inch 3.5-8.0 BCM.

This type of UV waterless is often used for CD/DVD printing by Hanky and Guannway Presses.

●AQUEOUS PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE

When personal information on post cards or directmail is to be protected, it can be sealed but peelable only once. Also this adhesive is used for the secret pages of special feature article of a magazine to arouse readers' curiosity.

UV MEGACURE PROCESS SERIES

Owing to our advanced know-how for UV ink formulation, accumulated since our Megami's foundation in 1928, we would offer several significant advantages. Most specific ones of them are better printability as well as the ink curing performance.

By formulating our particular varnish, we could successfully reduce tack value but with curbing too much flow and misting, eccessive emulsification and dot gain, as a consequence of low tack. Soft body enables to give better ink performance in terms of transferability, flowage and ultimately better milage. Immediate cure performance makes a press to run at higher speed.

We have prepared for full line ups, such as spot colors, super lightfastness (SLF Series) and other resistance ink types.
